  • A Discussion for Effectiveness and Defects of Screen Prototyping on System Definition Phase

     View Summary

    In recent years, a lot of system development projects adopt the screen prototyping process on system definition phase. It is effective to use the system prototype to decrease the trouble based on undefined system requirements. On the other hand, there are problems caused in using screen prototype. For example, because it is difficult to assume the consistency used between screens, screen prototype has the possibility of causing trouble. In this study, effectiveness and problems of the screen prototyping on system requirement definition phase were discussed. And the trouble in actual system development case that occurred because of the screen prototyping was analyzed. In addition, it introduces the tool that automatically constructs the information system from the screen prototype that NTTDATA developed. Because there is a possibility that this tool solves the problem of the screen prototyping.

    When the business is planned by using GORE, it is necessary to start constructing goal graphs from scratch. In this paper, the pattern of the relation between goals is extracted from the goal graph of an actual project, and it proposes the goal graph construction technique that uses the extracted pattern. Moreover, the example of checking the goal graph where the extracted pattern was used is shown.

    Checkland allows to use Forrester's System Dynamics Model and Beer's Model as a Conceptual Model on forth stage in SSM. We propose requirements elicitation method in which we use Forrester's System Dynamics model as Conceptual Model. We connect it to Goal Oriented Analysis to elicit system requirements. We also connect it to System Dynamics Simulation to validate requirements from the viewpoint of numerical value. In this paper, we show the process and merit of our method and practice in requirements definition process in information system in retail industry.
