    本研究のテーマに基づき、2021年度は以下の内容に取り組んだ。
    <BR>
    1.ファッション・デザイナーのガブリエル・シャネルが1920年代に手がけたシンプルな黒いドレス、いわゆるリトル・ブラック・ドレスにおけるモダニズムとは何かについて考察を行った。このテーマについては、以前より取り組んでいるが、今年度はシャネルが1920年代に住んでいたパリの私邸を彩っていた重要な装飾品に中国のコロマンデル屏風のコレクションがあったこと、また、1921年以降、雑誌に掲載する写真の撮影時にモデルの背景に漆の屏風を置いていたことを示す新たな資料を見出し、黒色の源泉のひとつに彼女が常に身近に置いていた漆の存在があったことを指摘した。新しい研究成果も折り込み、シャネルの黒いドレスについてまとめた論考「リトル・ブラック・ドレス再考」を『ユリイカ』（2021年7月号〈特集=ココ・シャネル〉）で発表した。

    2.画家の藤田嗣治が1920年代にてがけたテキスタイルデザインについても、継続して考察を行った。そして、これまで集めた一次資料を読み解く中で、藤田が布地をデザインする際、ドロッピングという手法を使っていたことが新たに判明した。一方、昨年度に引き続き、藤田が「共同制作をしていた」と言葉を残しているリヨンのドゥシャルン社とのつながりを示す資料を探したが、今年度も両者を結ぶ資料を見出すことはできなかった。なお、藤田の布地制作については、2022年3月19日に日本女子大学総合研究所主催のシンポジウム「ファッションと衣生活の近代ー1920～30年代のパリと横須賀ー」において、「藤田嗣治と布―ルシュール社のためのテキスタイルデザイン」と題する講演を行う機会を得た。日本服飾史を専門とする研究者らと意見交換したことで新たな知見を得ることができた。

    The history of design education in a broad sense, including painting, sculpture, architecture, various crafts, and various arts, was investigated and studied by a principal investigator who mainly specializes in the West and fourteen research co-workers. Although historically important Western Europe has been the center of this study, the principal investigator has also investigated other regions and the final research report could include the history of important educational institutions in Russia, Latin America and Asia. It was a work by Nikolaus Pevsner, the Academies of Art: Past and Present, which preceded this study, was important, but could not include Russia or history of architectural education. This study was able to describe the history of architectural education, including a history of art education in Russia in the outline, including the uniqueness of architectural education in Portugal and Spain in the sixteenth, seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.

    本研究は、1920年代にパリのモード界で活躍した画家のソニア・ドローネーが企てたイメージ戦略を、同時代に典型的な女性像「ギャルソンヌ」との関連から解明しようと試みるものである。
    本年度はまず、フランス国立図書館のアーカイブに保管されているメゾンの宣伝用の写真や広告文の分析を行い、彼女が1920年代初頭にモード界に進出する際、どのような手法で他のデザイナーとの差別化を図ったのかを考察した。その中で、ソニアが当時、パリのモードに現れたばかりの新しい女性像、すなわち活動的で媚びないギャルソンヌのイメージをいち早く取り入れると同時に、写真の背景に自分や夫で同じく画家のロベール・ドローネーの絵画作品を設置したり、広告文中で繰り返し「キュビスムの画家」という言葉を用いたり、さらには彼女自身がモデルとして自作の衣服や装飾品を身に纏い宣伝用の写真に登場することで、自らの画家という出自や、同時代の前衛芸術との結びつきを意図的に強調していたことが明らかとなった。また本年度は、ソニア・ドローネーとの比較検討を行うため、同時代に活躍していたクチュリエ、ジャンヌ・ランバンの仕事にも注目し、パリの装飾美術館所蔵のランバンの写真資料の分析も併せて行った。その結果、ソニアの芸術家という立ち位置を改めて確認すると同時に、これまで保守的と評価されてきたランバンのデザインが、実際には懐古的でロマンティックなものから、ギャルソンヌにふさわしい現代的な感覚に溢れるものまで、実に幅広くユニークなものであったことを突き止めた。
    以上のように、「ギャルソンヌ」の女性表象という視点を得ることで、本研究は服飾史や美術史、ジェンダー論など、諸分野においてこれまで見落とされてきた問題に新たな視座を提示することができたものと思われる。

    本年度は、昨年3月に提出した博士論文に基づき、アール・デコ期のデザインと同時代の女性表象の関係性という新たな課題に着手した。2008年7月に開催されたデザイン史学研究会の研究発表会では、1920年代に衣服制作を展開した画家のソニア・ドローネーのテキスタイル・デザインに注目し、そこに見出される幾何学模様が、その視覚作用によって、曲線と共に強調されてきた女性身体を、平らで直線的な身体に作り変えるものであったことを指摘した。また、彼女が幾何学的形態と色彩によって、新しい女性身体の創造を試みていたことを、彼女の一連の制作活動をたどる中、検証した。
    9月のパリ出張では、メゾン・エルメスのアーカイブ責任者のメネウル・ドゥ・シャテル氏を訪問し、1920年代にソニア・ドローネーがエルメスのために手がけたポスターや装飾品などについて意見交換を行った。その中で、エルメスが馬具や鞄の専門店という地位を固める一方で、同時代の前衛芸術にも目を向けた革新的な商品展開を試みていたことが明らかになった。またそれとは別に、博士論文の調査の中で見出した、1925年にパリで開催されたアール・デコ展開催時のエルメスの展示スタンドの写真を提供したところ、そこで使われていた家具の一部が1980年代中頃までパリのエルメス本店で実際に使われていたものと同じデザインであったことが判明した。さらにパリ出張では、ダダ研究で著名なマルク・ダーシー氏と面会し、ソニア・ドローネーが1920年代初頭に友人の前衛詩人たちと共同で制作した「ローブ・ポエム(詩-ドレス)」について意見交換を行った。
