    I have researched and collected literary works of Kokugakusha (scholars of Native Studies), especially of ISHIKAWA Masamochi, to study the genre of novels written on noble-style Japanese in Kinsei period (Kinsei-wabun-Shôsetsu). ISHIKAWA Masamochi’s Hida-no-takumi Monogatari was, however, severely criticized by Kyokutei Bakin’s Review and Critique of Honchô Suiko-den, or Japanese Shuihu Zhuan (Water Margin).
    His criticism was directed to the whole Kinsei-wabun-Shôsetsu, and that really was an animadversion in consideration of general public reader’s existence. The idea to attract attention as antithesis for Bakin’s such point of view on yomihon, is that of ÔTA Nampo who commented ISHIKAWA Masamotchi’s Ômi-agata Monogatari “is not worldly”. By the way, Nampo’s Tamagawa-jari on which reading records of Ômi-agata Monogatari and Hida-no-takumi Monogatari exist, has another criticism following these, which says Bandô kibun Nureginu sôshi written by Shakuyakutei Nagane “is beyond worldly style “. What is the worldly yornihon in his sense? In the preface of Nureginu sôshi, Nagane referred to yomihon of former ages and expressed the dissatisfaction to the present ones, saying that “although a lot of strange episodes that attract people appear in them, they are mere morality plays and there is no discussion”. On the other hand, he praised himself that his original work contained both morality and discussions. Therefore, checking the relation of morality and discussions in this story, a criterion of morality is whether character’s act is suitable for its duty, and discussions have the role to return the person who nearly neglects his duty, to a previous ideal situation. Namely, in Nureginu sôshi, this consciousness of life with clear awareness of one’s duty is penetrating the whole as a firm sense of values. As a result, certain moderation and quality are contained in this work. The reason why Nanpo who desired yomihon which is suitable for indulging in peaceful world (Asagao dairy), esteemed this work, may be this point. On the basis of what I considered, I would like to check that there has been another reception of yomihon which was different from worldly style. And if possible, I would like to consider about the style, too.

    本研究の３つの柱は１．九州地域における写本の学術的調査、２．国立台湾大学長沢文庫所蔵写本群の調査、３．近世後期絵巻模写における国学視座からの再検討であるが、１～３はすべて現地調査を基本としており、一昨年度より続く新型コロナウイルスの影響で研究計画を変更せざるを得なかった。大学の方針としてまん延防止等重点措置の地域への出張は原則として禁止しており、今年度も大規模な現地調査を行うことができなかった。
    各テーマについて具体的に述べていきたい。まず１は一昨年度より阿蘇神社（熊本県阿蘇市）所蔵未整理古典籍類の学術調査および目録化を行っているが、年間２回予定しているグループ調査は１回も行うことができなかった。
    ２の台湾大学調査については現地調査は行うことはできなかった。しかし、同大学より複写を取り寄せ、研究代表者が口頭発表を行い、今年度に論文として公刊した（亀井森「国学者の絵巻模写-長沢伴雄稿『年中行事画巻略』を中心に-」、語文研究、130・131号、pp.280-293、九州大学国語国文学会編、2021年6月）。かろうじて研究が進まないという状況は避けているが、来年度も同大学への調査は難しいのではないかと考えている。
    ３の絵巻模写についてはわずかながら進展している。前掲研究代表者の論文、また後掲下原美保氏による論考によって絵巻模写については着実に業績を挙げていると考えてよい。
    また長沢伴雄が絵巻模写の活動を行っていた時期に記された業務日誌を今年度の予算で購入した。これによってこれまで推測の部分が多かった空白時期について大きな進展を見込むことが可能となり、来年度以降、口頭発表および論文化を計画している。本研究テーマは他の柱に比して進展しているといえる。

    江戸時代の「読本（よみほん）」というジャンルの中で、刊行数から見てその最盛期と思われる文化５年、文化６年に刊行された読本について、素材、構成、記述、出版の面から網羅的に精査することによって、この時期の読本が何を目指していたのか、何が評価されていたのかを明らかにすることを目的としている。これまでの研究と違い、著名な作者や作品に注目するのではなく、この時期に刊行された読本を網羅的に精査するところに特色があり、著名な作者・作品の研究に偏った志向を是正するということにもなると考えられる。初年度（令和２年度）はまず文化年間に刊行された読本の年表を仮に作成し、その中で文化５年あるいは文化６年刊の読本について、担当を決め、解題を作成していった。
    ２年目となる令和３年度も同様に、まずは文化５年刊および文化６年刊の読本について、解題作業を進めていった。解題の中で、文化７年の刊行であることがわかったものもあり、また、比較のため、あえて文化７年刊の読本の解題を行ったこともあった。結果として、この年度には計26点の読本の解題を作成することができた（継続されて出版された読本で刊行時期が異なるものは、それぞれ別の点数として数えた）。解題は年２回のオンライン研究会で発表し、質疑応答によってさらに検討を加えた。解題には、出版における書肆、挿絵、半紙本であるか中本であるかという書物の形態についても意識的に考察した。
    作成した解題には、対象としたテキストの書誌情報（内題、作者、画師、書肆、形態、巻構成、冊数、序跋、刊記、刊印修）、梗概、特色をあげ、研究会ではこれをもとに他研究者が質問をしていく。こうした情報を他の読本と比較することで、その読本の特色がはっきりし、また複数の読本の特色が集められることによって、この時期に刊行された読本の特色が顕在化するのである。

    Later Yomihon (tales of the fantastic) in 19th century has a common norm as a genre.In this study, to clarify the process by which these norms are established, we trace the origins of Later Yomihon.The purpose is to comprehensively understand various aspects in the genre formation process. As a concrete result of this, we have created a review and an abstract for all works between 1801 and 1807.
    It was understood that the works of the Kyowa period(1801-1804) were diverse and difficult to find uniformity. At the same time, I am proud that Santo Kyoden and Kyokutei Bakin are prominently writing works with a methodological awareness, and that they have obtained a comprehensive view only through steady research such as creating an abstract for each working.

  • The japanese classicism by Goi Ransyu and its influence

    This research has revealed two things. The first point is about matters of classicism of Goi Ransyu. He thought that Ise-Monogatari was established by addition of Ise in the self-record of Narihira. This opinion is based on "Ketsugisyou". On the other hand, "Koi" is sharply opposed. The second point is the influence that Ransyu gave to Kato Kagenori and Ueda Akinari. Kagenori wrote a story called "Itsunoyogatari" This is positioned after Ransyu's "Zoku Ochikubo Monogatari", and thought of Ransyu is reflected strongly in the work. On the other hand, Akinari shows different views from the standpoint of Ransyu mentioned above in the "Ise-Monogatari" commentary, so it can not be said that Akinari has completely absorbed Ransyuu's academics.
