Profile

大阪大学及び大阪大学大学院で学び、同大学院で博士（文学）を取得。日本学学術振興会特別研究員（PD）、大阪大学助手、ノートルダム清心女子大学講師・准教授、大学共同利用機関法人人間文化研究機構 国文学研究資料館（総合研究大学院大学併任）准教授・教授、研究主幹（及び国際連携部長、学術資料事業部長、古典籍データ駆動研究センター副センター長）を経て、早稲田大学教育・総合科学学術院教授。上記期間に、コロンビア大学（米国）訪問研究者、チュラロンコーン大学（タイ国）客員教授、イェール大学（米国）客員准教授として研究と教育を行う。

前近代日本の知識伝達と知識の物質化としての書物の蓄積と蔵書形成の歴史を研究対象としています。
［１］中世以前の学芸を担った公家衆の学問としての古典学の歴史展開と蔵書形成
［２］日本古典を中心とした古典学の知識伝達のシステムとしての古今伝受の歴史的展開
［３］宗教的知識の蓄積と伝達を担った密教寺院における蔵書形成と寺院間の相互交渉
［４］書物の物質性、古筆切や古写本の特質把握

    本研究で提示した3点の研究課題における本年度の実績は下記の通りである。
    １）摩尼院所蔵典籍・文書類の目録化及びその蔵書史的記述：摩尼院経蔵から搬出し、破損状態の確認と簡易クリーニングを行い、アーカイバルボックスに移した。資料の調査を行い、調査カードを作成した。全世界的疫病の流行により調査時期および参加人数が制限されたが、感染拡大に注意しつつ、実施可能な範囲で書誌的調査を行ない、本年度までに合計1766点のデータを採取した。
    ２）南河内地域の寺院ネットワークと知識流通の解明：調査によって見えてきた学問寺院としての金剛寺にとって重要な意味を持つ典籍群のうち、摩尼院伝来の貴重資料の輪読を原則毎月1回開催し、記載内容理解に努めた。また、研究報告等の成果公開方法についても検討を進めた。ネットワーク・知識流通の調査においては、既調査分の奥書・識語類の調査を通して、仁和寺との関係などの解明に及んだ。
    ３）摩尼院及び金剛寺聖教の調査と研究を起点とした寺院文化圏に関する国際共同研究：研究活動の国際化と研究視角の多様化に伴い、寺院文化圏を対象とした研究も在外研究者との協働による成果が従来以上に期待されるようになってきている。本年度は、日本の宗教思想の特質把握を目的とした「Sacred Secrets: Networks of Secret Knowledge in Japanese Religions」（カリフォルニア大学バークレー校）と題した国際会議において研究成果を報告し討議を行った。

    In this research, based on the fundamental data accumulated by the thorough investigation of the books possessed by Amano-san Kongo-ji Temple, we made a point of view of Japanese literature, bibliography, and philology, and advanced the elucidation of the temple cultural sphere and its intellectual network through the joint research which included the accumulation of the results and methods of various neighboring fields such as art history, Japanese language study, and history of Buddhism. And we made researches on the valuable books, which contributed to the formation of networks of knowledge in the Medieval Ages, and published books describing their contents and significance with these facsimiles and transcriptions. In order to advance the international joint research, We also held a joint symposium with the Center for the Study of Manuscript Cultures at the University of Hamburg and Nagoya University to disseminate the research results and share future issues.

    In this study, we investigated the aspects of creation, circulation, and socialization of the knowledge of the teaching calligraphy in early modern Japan, and analyzed relationship between the knowledge of calligraphy and the knowledge of other fields of traditional arts like as waka poetry, tea ceremony, painting etc.
    In addition, we made following basic data list: the list of the books of calligraphy published in the Edo era; the bibliographic information data of 167 titles of documents of calligraphy in Tayasu-Tokugawa collection.

    We weighed on the documents for transmission of waka poetry knowledge and ceremony of waka poetry party written through the worldview of esoteric Buddhism, and we reported on value and significance in the history of ideas in medieval and early modern Japan. Specifically, we surveyed, philologically, pictorial diagrams for ceremony of transmission of waka poetry knowledge, documents for transmission of waka poetry knowledge, and documents for ceremony of waka poetry party, and we analyzed these characteristics and these knowledge bases.

    2020年度は新型コロナウィルスの流行により、文書館・博物館の臨時閉館・閲覧制限が相次いだため、予定していた資料調査はほとんど実現しなかった。それに代わるものとして、各資料所蔵機関ウェブサイトのデジタルアーカイブや図書目録等を活用し、道具帳・書籍目録の所在情報の収集に努めた。
    その結果、一橋徳川家・久松松平家の蔵書を収めた国立公文書館内閣文庫蔵『諸家蔵書目録』をはじめ、鶴岡藩酒井家・小諸藩牧野家・萩藩毛利家・肥前平戸藩松浦家等の大名家道具帳に関する情報を収集することが出来た。このうち、小諸藩牧野家・萩藩毛利家・肥前平戸藩松浦家の道具帳・蔵書目録については、2021年に期間を延長し、牧野家・山口県文書館・松浦史料博物館の現地調査に赴き、関係資料の撮影を行うことが出来た。
    また、福岡藩黒田家の道具帳に類する資料として、『黒田家重宝故実』の資料収集を行い、北九州市立いのちのたび博物館で、小倉藩の能楽関係資料の撮影を行ったほか、鹿児島県歴史・美術センター黎明館でも、鹿児島藩の能楽関係資料の撮影を行った。
    萩藩毛利家の能楽関係資料については、山口県文書館毛利家文庫蔵の萩藩の道具帳『御書物目録大御納戸』『宝庫御書物目録』に基づき、防府市の毛利博物館蔵の能楽関係資料との関連について、その伝来をめぐる問題を中心に、「毛利博物館蔵鼓伝書小考」と題する論考にまとめ、重田みち編『宮増小鼓伝書の資料と研究』(2021年、法政大学能楽研究所)に発表した。

    コーパスに対するアノテーションの共有環境を実現するため、『日本語歴史コーパス』に対する情報付与を想定して、コーパス検索アプリケーション「中納言」に追加する機能の設計の検討を進めた。コーパスの基本となる単語レベルのアノテーション、とりわけ利用者からの要望が多く、早期の実装が望まれる誤解析語の修正に焦点を当て、この点で利用しやすい環境を整備することとした。
    そのために、アノテーションに際してUniDic（コーパスの形態素解析に用いた電子化辞書）の見出し語情報を参照し、辞書データと連携しながら正しい単語情報を付与できるシステムの設計と開発を行った。
    コロナ禍による学会の延期等もあり、研究発表活動はやや低調であったが、国立国語研究所の「通時コーパス」プロジェクトや関連プロジェクトとの共同研究の形で、オンライン開催のシンポジウムで口頭発表を行った。

    This collaborative research study group, consisting mainly of Japanese literature scholars with cooperation of international/domestic Japanese art historians, conducted research and study on Japanese katarimono illustrated books. Our interest was especially on kowaka dance themed genre. The main purpose was to conduct researches on Mai-no-hon-emaki pieces, those had been taken to foreign collections in earlier days. We could cover not only the already-known foreign collections but as well as the newly acknowledged scroll at Bibliotheque nationale de France. Other significant outcome was the special exhibition at Umi-Mori Art Museum, “The Paintings of Kowaka Dance: Presenting the Heroes of the Samurai” and its exhibition catalogue which includes our research results. Lastly, a collection of papers of this collaborative research study was published as a book titled “Etoku sengoku no geino to kaiga: egakareta katarimono no sekai”.

    We studied the Kurokawas old storehouse document.The person of Kurokawa is 3s,Harumura,Mayori,Mamichi.They are a scholar of ancient Japanese thought and book collectors,from the last part of Edo era through the Meiji era. We investigated the old classical books which Notre Dame Seishin University possessed. The Kurokawas possessed those books. We investigated a bibliography matter in detail, and revised the result. We maintain the data which we collected, and we comprise it for the future exhibition.

    It aimed to elucidate aspects of collections, litecopying activities and collection formation / arrangement by the Kujo family in the early modern era, and to clarify the actual state of the Kujo family books from the Middle Ages to the early modern times I did research.
    In the early period of the Edo era, the formation of bookcollection carried out by Kujo Michifusa who was Kujo house family head for the past years was clarified from existing literature.
    At the same time, to trace the roots of those books, we traced back to the writing relationship, revealed the way of the book group which was copied from the Kujo family collection and changed. Since the Taisho period these collections of the Kujo family, including the runoff to the street, are scattered away from the Kujo family and are kept in the Each research institution, but as far as possible we are tracked I revealed the location.

    The study representative investigated the Kuzes document of the Meiji University Museum and aimed at the making of the union catalog of the Kuzes document. However, the work was not completed because the entirety of the document was enormousness. It was confirmed about the study of cultural affairs of the head of a household of the Kuzes that influence of the study of tanka poetry of the Nakanoins was big. I was able to prove that basics of the study of tanka poetry that Michimochi Nakanoin conferred on Michinatsu kuze depended on hereditary learning of the Nakanoins from various documents. Because the study of tanka poetry of the nobility influenced it mutually, I reconfirmed the need of the general study of the study of tanka poetry of the court noble.

    Kujo Michifusa is to organize and confirmed the Shosha this successive family head up to the Muromachi period, and noted the confirmation annual to Okugaki, with respect to those new Shosha has noted its legacy and Shosha annual to Okugaki, results of the examination thereof, it was revealed that they were carried out focused around twenty years from 1639.     The aim of this project is to enrich a general investigation into Kongoji Shogyo: the collection of the sacred texts in the possession of the Kongoji in Kawachinagano City, Osaka Prefecture.For that purpose, our project succeeded to the previous Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (B) (2007-2010) and tried making more accurate scrutinies and studies of Kongoji Shogyo and its formation. In the process, we collated the former tentative catalog of the Shogyo texts with the original materials respectively to check and confirm the bibliographic descriptions, so that we have completed the catalog.And we scrutinized the various rare codices, such as Hokyoin-darani-kyo, Kiyomizudera Engi and so on.
    Our research team held international symposiums in Japan and China (Beijing) to make presentations on the research results, and we co-sponsored academic research special exhibition “Kongo-ji Meihoten” in Kyoto National Museum to open the fruits of our research to the public.

    This research issue focusing on the word notation in manuscripts of “The Tale of Genji”, revealed the bigger issue of notation in Japanese language and Japanese culture. Though we had micro view point at first, which featured on the difference between HIRAGANA and KANJI notation, on the process of expanding of the range of view, from the mere difference to Kanji notation increase phenomenon in text, also to Hiragana notation increase phenomenon in Kanji-led text on the contrary, it showed that change in using Kanji in text also can be the subject of "methodology for the studies of the notation".
    "Notation of the letter" leads to "notation of culture" and "notation of philosophy”. “Methodology for the studies of the notation", which observes not only "what is written" as a start point but also "how it is written" is the actually research of "how", which we should continue to study.

    This study intended to make a compilation of varying texts of Kokin-Waka-Rokujo, worked out in middle period of Heian. The existing texts of such work are transcriptions and prints in Edo period. That text not necessary conforms to old fractions, finding out in the texts of Waka, such as Kigo-syo, Toshiyori-Zuino, Waka-Domosyo.
    For these reasons, we selected 12 texts and a book, copied or printed in Edo period, and made a compilation of varying texts with vast numbers ofinsertions. This accomplishment put on view in electron medium in the last year of this scientific research fund, and as articles, we issued in Kokin-Waka-Rokujo Kenkyu, Vol.1 and Vol.2, published in the 22 and 23 years of the Heisei era.

    In the Edo period, the Kamo Shrine was administered by the Shake, descendants of Shinto priest families, with support from the Shogunate and Imperial Court. They also managed important festivals like the Aoi-Matsuri. We researched the Shake's historical records and picture scrolls of the Aoi-Matsuri which report the actual circumstances of the festival, and inspected them by collating with Imperial records and the diaries of court nobles in order to investigate the roles and relationship between the Shake, the Imperial Court and the Shogunate.
    The results were published in bulletins of the Center of Japanese Culture at Kyoto Sangyo University. Additionally, the greater part of the picture scrolls possessed by Kyoto Sangyo University were digitized and published as digital archives.

    The aim of our project is a general investigation into Kongo-ji Shogyo(金剛寺聖教): the collection of the sacred texts in the possession of the Shingon-shu (esoteric Buddhism) temple Kongo-ji in Kawachinagano City, Osaka Prefecture.
    The project's aims were two fold. Our first priority was to make a complete, simplified catalog of the Shogyo. Our second priority was detailed research into and scrutiny of selected cardinally important materials of the Shogyo : for example, Zenkyotaii(全経大意), Hyakuganshujikan(百願修持観), Myokukanyo(明句肝要), Kiyomizudera-engi(清水寺縁起) and Mumyobukkyotekikusho(無名仏教摘句抄).
    We were able to complete a preliminary catalog of the Kongo-ji Shogyo texts stored in Boxes 21 to 55 (inclusive), compromising texts and documents which had previously not been systematically catalogued or researched. In so doing our research team has succeeded in cataloging nearly all of the Kongo-ji Shogyo.
    As part of our project, we conducted comprehensive research into the musical scores and the Buddhist printed books (including fragmented materials) in the Shogyo, and we conducted academic evaluations of the Shogyo collection's important materials.
    In conclusion, as a result of this project, we published three volumes of academic report bulletins in our research term of four years. We incorporated our Shogyo catalog in these three volumes, and in addition included research articles on Kongo-ji Shogyo, accompanied by facsimiles of the texts and documents, and honkoku (transcriptions) of various significant materials.

    Our research activities between 2003 and 2006 have been achieved in the following four areas;
    i) General Research on the Kongo-ji Manuscript Canon
    We closely investigated approximately 4,400 scrolls of the Kongo-ji Manuscript Canon, and collated them with the Taisho Tripitaka edition. Consequently, it became apparent that more than half of them were in fact based on the older manuscripts copied in Nara Period. Based on this investigation, we made 'A Catalogue of the Kongo-ji Manuscript Canon', and published it as the Research Report Vol.II.
    ii) A Basic Survey of the Kongo-ji Sacred Texts
    We arranged all of the Kongo-ji Sacred Texts in order, and photographed more than half of them with a color digital camera. We also made 'A List of the Kongo-ji Sacred Texts'(provisional), which forms a part of the Research Report Vol.I.
    iii) Research of the Newly Discovered Buddhist Scriptures and Sacred Texts
    We have made the detailed examination of the Shier men jing translated by An Shigao, and studied hitherto unknown versions of the Buddhist scriptures too, i.e., the Sidi jing etc. As far as the newly discovered Sacred Texts are concerned, the Chiyono Tale, untitled Narrative Collections of Buddhist stories, the Hyakugan-shujikan, a fragment of the Ban-zhou-zan, the Senchakusa printed in the Kamakura Period, the Muryojukyo-ron-chu copied in the Heian Period, the Nenbutsu-yoimon-sho have been studied. Papers on these texts are contained in the Research Report Vol.I.
    iv) Digitalization of the Kongo-ji Manuscript Canon
    In order to collate more easily with printed editions, we have digitalized approximately 3,600 scrolls out of the Kongo-ji Manuscript Collection, and made each digitalized scroll to a PDF file.
    Through the above-mentioned investigation and research, we have formed the basis for further research in the future.

    1) Our research members have done the serial periodic researches of archives of some temples, mainly Zuishin-in (随心院) and Kasagi-dera (笠置寺) temple for three years.
    2) In the process of these researches, we made the tentative database of the catalogue of Zuishin-in archive, and published some part of the catalogue and the collection of colophons as research reporting papers about its archive (随心院聖教識語集成稿(一) (二)).
    3) We made the catalogue and the research reporting papers of the works of art (statues and picture) of Zuishin-in.
    4) We also made the catalogue of Kasagi-dera archive and the works of art (statues and picture).
    5) We published various research papers about Zuishin-in archive and its works of art.
    6) We also published various research papers about Kasagi-dera archives and its works of art.
    7) We held the international and interdisciplinary academic conference named "BEYOND BUDDHOLOGY : NEW DIRECTIONS IN THE STUDY OF JAPANESE BUDDHISM" at Harvard University, and made several presentations there.
    8) Almost of above achievements are printed in our three volumes of annual research report books named Interdisciplinary Study on Literary Documents and Religious Art of Zuishin-in Temple (vol.I 177pages, vol.II 188pages, vol.III 350pages).
    9) And our studies are sometimes done with many graduate students of Japanese literature, history, and arts, so I could try to feed back our forefront studies to them. I think that attempt was achieved in success.

    The foundation of this research is "Exploratory research : pre-studies on the database of Japanese Literature research resources in foreign languages" (reference : 13871051) which was prepared from 2001-2002. In light of the outcomes of this work, we have developed the topic further and we have obtained some useful outcomes in the following themes :
    -collecting whole papers on Japanese Literature overseas (preparing database of papers)
    -collecting bibliographies of the translations and the research(approximately 600 books)
    -exploratory presentations from conferences overseas, including the Korea-Japan association for Japanese literature studies (14th May 2005) where we asked for academic cooperation and information
    As for the multi-lingual database of the Japanese literature research resources, approximately 4,000 papers were explored and collected and have since been published as "Japanese Literature overseas research paper 1+2" (published March 2005). In this publication we dealt with foreign languages such as Chinese, Czech, English, French, German, Korean, Japanese, Polish and Russian.
    We also arranged information on Japanese literature overseas in following 4 books as an interim report. They are attached as reference in order to classified the bibliographies of translations & research, and the history of the researches.
