    Through five years of collaborative research, we have established a foundation for research on "War and Society. It is also known as "sociology of war," an interdisciplinary field of humanities and social sciences that crosses history, sociology, literature, and religious studies. Specifically, first, we have reexamined the problem settings of the vast amount of research on the Asia-Pacific War that has been accumulated to date in terms of several contemporary themes. Second, we have secured theoretical perspectives to relativize them through broader war histories and comparisons. Third, we critically examined military sociology to connect it to the current war and military issues and clarified points of caution in its introduction. Fourth, we surveyed social consciousness on the subject to which this research will contribute.

    The purpose of this study was to absorb the results of military sociology not yet widely introduced to Japan, and to obtain clues to approach the Japanese Self Defense Force Sociologically. In particular, I explored the theoretical possibilities and applicability of Charles Moskos' 'postmodern military' framework that incorporates each armed forces as a case, and caught a clue to consider the social character of the SDF from a cultural point of view in comparisons among countries. I reported at the session "All-Volunteer Forces, Recruitment and Conscription" of International Sociological Society (ISA) held in Toronto Canada in the final summer of this project, and am currently writing as an English paper and will contribute to the journal on military sociology.

    This research project aims to clear the situation on the succession and sharing of the war memories in contemporary Japan. For this purpose, in particular, some activities of public and private libraries and museums on war and peace are investigated. And this study approaches the community developments in which the residents are using war memories as their regional identification.
    On the other hand, the successive interviews to the war experienced people, which were planned for one of the most important parts of this study, are stopped because of the outbreak of North Nagano Earthquake at March 12, 2011. During the term of this project, I participate in the foundation of sociological association on war, which is first established in Japan.

    <p> The feature in this volume entitled" Current Qualitative Methods for Media</p><p>and Journalism Studies" comprises four papers. This article explains the aims of</p><p>these papers.</p><p> This feature was written in response to a growing sense of crisis concerning</p><p>the current state of Mass Communication Studies. One example of the concerns</p><p>that exist is that high-definition natural language processing may eventually</p><p>undermine the validity of mass-based methods.</p><p> In light of this, all of the researchers in this field were required to reinvestigate</p><p>ways of developing up-to-date methodologies that are inseparably</p><p>linked to resolving each existing methodology's problems.</p><p> To this end, the editorial board asked each author to include in the paper</p><p>his/her research history and current methodological proposition so that readers</p><p>can understand the process by which the author developed the methodology.</p>

    巨大かつ深刻な社会現象としての戦争を社会学的に研究する戦争社会学研究の現代的課題において、日本社会が過去や現在の戦争／平和、および安全保障や自衛隊をどう見て・どう考えているのかについての社会意識論的な研究と、自衛隊が社会にどのような広報を打ち出しているのかについての研究を並行して進める。後者は行政広報研究の一種であり、ポスターなどに現れる表象の研究や、広報活動の時系列的変化・地域的特性についての研究が進められた。2022年4月に刊行された論文「わからない（DK）という希望、それとも無責任？－戦争と平和に関する社会意識をめぐって」で得られた知見を上記の枠組みに沿って展開する作業を続けている。

  • 安全保障問題に関する意識調査における両義的回答についての社会学的考察

    本研究課題は、戦争と平和・安全保障問題に関する意識調査を行うための科研費（基盤研究（B））を獲得するための準備を行うものである。まず社会学における社会意識論的研究の系譜を理論的に検討し、その成果を論文にした。また実際の意識調査実施を念頭に、最新の調査法の吸収に努めた。前回調査の概要や継続する調査課題についての新聞インタビューに答え、同じ内容を『学術の動向』に寄稿した。科研費獲得後に行う予定の調査のプレ調査として、ウクライナ侵攻開始1年にあたる2023年3月に、過去調査（2022年2月･3月）の回答者に対する反復調査を実施した。2月末に科研の審査結果が公表され、申請課題は無事採択された。
