    In this paper a relationship between the Ohno relation for multiple zeta values and multiple polylogarithms are discussed. First we introduce generating functions for the Ohno relation, and investigate their properties. We show that there exists a subfamily of the Ohno relation which recovers algebraically its totality. This is proved through analysis of Mellin transform of multiple polylogarithms. Furthermore, this subfamily is shown to be converted to the Landen connection formula for multiple polylogarithms by inverse Mellin transform.

    The inversion formulas of polylogarithms can be regarded as a recursive Riemann-Hilbert (RH, for short) problem of additive type. Solving this problem, we can chracterize the polylogarithms. This problem generalizes to the case for multiple polylogarithms (MPL, for short). From the inversion formulas of MPL, one can also obtain a recursive RH problem of additive type, and the unique solvability can be shown. Furthemore, one can show that this problem is equivalent to the multiplicative Riemann-Hilbert problem of the fundamental solution for the KZ equation of one variable. The article summarizing these results is now submited to a mathematical journal. Recently, we investigate the connection to monodromy preserving deformation, and addressed at the annual meetings of Japan Mathematical Society

    The paper entitled by ”KZ equation on the moduli space M_{0,5} and the harmonic product of multiple polylogarithms” appeared in Proc. London. Math. Soc.. In this article, we established the algebraic foundation such as the reduced bar algebra, and the geometric foundation such as the fiber space structure of the moduli space M_{0,5}, and showed the decomposition theorem of the fundamental solution of the KZ equation on M_{0.5}. Moreover we showed that the decomposition theorem is equivalent to the generalized harmonic product relations, and that they involve all the harmonic products of multiple polylogarithms of one variable. The paper entitled by ‘’The Inversion Formula of Polylogarithms abd the Riemann-Hilbert Problem” also was published last year. In this paper, we succeeded in characterzing polylogarithms by using the Riemann-Hilbert problem under a certain asymptotic condition

    First I tried to make correspondence, via Mellin transforms and inverse Mellin transforms, between linear relations held among multiple zeta values and connection relations held among multiple polylogarithms of one variable. I was succeeded in clarifying the correspondence between Ohno relations for multiple zeta values and the connection formula for multiple polylogarithms with respect to z→z-1. This result was published as the paper "Relations for Multiple Zeta Values and Mellin Transforms of Multiple Polylogarithms, Publ. RIMS, Kyoto Univ. 40 (2004), 537-564".Motivated by this research, I tried to study symmetry of the formal Knizhinik-Zamolodchikov(KZ) equation of one variable, in which the coefficients of the equation are regarded as noncommutative variables. Here the symmetry of the equation means transformation theory of fundamental solutions normalized at the singular points. The most universal generating function of multiple polylogarithms is a fundamental solution normalized at z=0. The connection matrices of these fundamental solutions are given by the so called Drinfeld associator, and the connection relations yield the duality relation and the hexagon relation for the Drinfeld associator. This result was published as the paper "The Sum Formula of Multiple Zeta Values and Connection Problem of the Formal Knizhinik-Zamolodchikov Equation, Development in Mathematics 14, Zeta Functions, Topology and Quantum Physics ed. Be T. Aoki et al., Springer (2005),145-170.Furthermore, I have been trying to generalize the symmetry theory in the formal KZ equation of many variables. I expect that, from this theory, the connection formulas for multiple polylogarithms of many variables. So far, I established the decomposition theorem, and the analycity theorem for normalized fundamental solutions of the KZ equation, from which one can deduce the pentagon relation for the Drinfeld associator. I proposed a conjecture that the harmonic product relations(or the series shuffle relations) of multiple polylogarithms are equivalent to the decomposition theorem. This result is announced in an invited project lecture in the autumn conference of MSJ at Osaka City University, 2006 September

    Through the years from 2000 to 2003, I have been studying "Multiple Zeta Values" (MZVs, for short). I have written two articles on this theme: "New Approach to Ohno Relation for Multiple Zeta Values" (by Jun-ichi Okuda and Kimio Ueno, arXive:math.NT/0106148), "Relations for Multiple Zeta Values and Mellin Transforms of Multiple Polylogarithms" (by Jun-ichi Okuda and Kimio Ueno, arXive:math.NT/0301277). The latter article is an enlarged version of the former, and I submitted the latter to Publications of RIMS, Kyoto University.In recent progress of study, I revealed that relations satisfied by MZVs can be regarded, via inverse Mellin transform - Mellin transform, as the monodromy problem of the multiple polylogarithms (MPLs, for short). In the article submitted, I showed that the Ohno relations for MZVs are, in a sense, equivalent to the Landen connection formulas for MPLs.To the international conference "Zeta Functions, Topology and Quantum Physics" held at Kinki University, from March 3rd to March 6th (2003), Jun-ichi Okuda, who is a graduate student at Department of Mathematics, Waseda University, and the collaborators of this study, was invited and gave on hour lecture on this theme

    I will describe my results paper by paper.In the paper (i) I gave a new elementary, combinatorial definition of the HOMFLY polynomial. In (ii) I looked at the multivariable Alexander polynomial of links from the view point of Vassiliev invariants and define a recursive definition of weight systems derived from it. In (iii) we studied a knot cobordism invariant, 4-dimensional clasp number, introduced by T.Shibuya. He proved that it is greater than or equal to the 4-dimensional genus and raised a problem whether there are knots which do not satisfy the equality. We gave such an example in this paper. In (iv) I studied the quantum SU(2)-invariant of 3-manifolds associated with the gammath root of unity. If gamma is even, it is defined for a class of the first cohomology group modulo 2. In this paper I calculated it for rational homology three-spheres and for the trivial cohomology class and showed that it is a cyclotomic integer and moreover it determines the Casson-Walker invariant. In (v) we introduced a filtration to the vector space spanned by all the Seifert matrices corresponding to the filtration to the vector space spanned by all the knot, which was introduced by V.Vassiliev. Moreover we clarified its relation to the Alexander polynomial. In (vi) I gave an example of hyperbolic three-manifold with trivial finite type invariants (introduced by T.Ohtsuki) up to arbitrarily given degree. In (vii) I followed (iv) and obtained a similar result in the case of non-trivial cohomology classes. Unfortunately I only showed that the invariant is a cyclotomic integer and a relation to the Casson-Walker invariant is now being investigated

    本研究では,有理数体上の正定値四元数環のlevel(q,N)のEichler型orderについて以下の様な諸問題を研究した:
    1.Type number T(q,N)をlevel qN,重さ2の保型形式のうち,Atkin-LehnerによるinvolutionW_p(p|qN)の固有部分空間の次元と関係付ける公式を発見し,その証明を与えた.
    2.Brandt行列が各固有部分空間上に以下に作用するかを,数論的に記述子,Brandt行列とHecke作用素の跡を細分して比較する事によりその証明を与えた.
    3.与えられたlevel(q,N)に対して,Eichler orderの族O(p,s)を二つのパラメーターp,sを用いて構成した.更に,コンピュータを用いて,qN<5000の範囲内では常に族O(p,s)がT(q,N)個のEichler orderの各同型類を尽くす事が確かめられた.
    4.qN<5000の範囲内で,各(q,N)に対してT(q,N)個のEichler orderのtheta級数を計算し,その一次独立性を調べた.
    5.これらのtheta級数のランク(階数)は,保型形式fのうちHecke作用素の固有関数で,L-関数がL(f,1)≠0をみたすものの個数に等しい事が知られている.我々の計算は,s=1に於いてL(f,s)が2位の零点を持つ保型形式fの個数を与える.その様なfのlevel qNに関する分布を調べた結果,著しい一様性を示す事が明らかになった.
    6.Eichler orderに付随する他の4種類の二次形式付き格子に対してもtheta級数を計算し,その一次独立性を調べた.その結果これらのtheta級数の間に著しい関係が存在する事が明らかになった.

    2次元共形場理論の出発点は,複素解析的にouカーstateとin stateを記述することにある。4次元共形場理論においても複素解析的手法を適用し,粒子場と反粒子場とが,各々複素平面のはりあわせとして関係していることを示し,共形場理論への出発点を与えることができた。
    S^4上のディラック作用素と赤道S^3上のハミルトニアンを複素ベクトル場を成分とする行列で具体的に表示することにより,S^4上の調和スピノ-ルの特徴づけを与え,またS^3上のハミルトニアンの固有値および完全固有スピノ-ル系を求めた。一方S^3へのSU(2,D)の左及び右からの作用より得られる最高ウエイメト表現に附随した球函数を2次元複素座標により表示した。これは初等的な結果であるが新しい。この球函数の族が上記固有スピノ-ルを系統的に与えることがわかる。この固有函数系に自然に附随してS^3上の無限次元グラスマン多様体が構成される。このグラスマン多様体の各元はS^4の北半球,南半球のスピノ-ルに境界系件を与えていると考えられる(witten's idea)が,このtransmission問題を考え解訳した。とくにディラック作堂素の指数定理の直接計算による証明が得られた。さらに進んでフェルミオン・フォック空間を導入した。ヴィラソロ代数の4次元の類似を探することが今後の問題となる。(以上 郡)
    量子群の研究に関しいは,A_< nー1>型のヘッケ代数により量子群Vg(gl(n+1))の表現の指標を訳定する研究が行なわれた(上野)
    この他,函数解析の基本的定理に関して,Whitteyーschwartzによるdistribntionの特徴づけの定理の精密化が得られた(垣田)

    類体論はア-ベル拡大論の理論であるが,その中心はアルチンの相互法則である。高木が類体論を完成し,アルチンが相互法則をその画竜点晴として加えた。現在類体論の証明は相互法則の証明を直接目指し,その系として高木の同型定理・分解定理などを証明する。筆者はこういう証明方法の不透明さ,非直観性を指摘し,歴史的段階に従って同型定理分解定理を証明して後,相互法則を証明する道筋をより直観性に富むと考え,その方針で証明を簡易化した。
    今迄の証明法の非直観性はアルチン写像4:Ck→Gal(J/k)を直接定義せず,その逆写像を定義することに由来すると思われる。そのような方法になる理由はコホモロジカルな証明を用いるからである。
    同型定理・分解法則の接接証明を目指するとき,ネックとなるのは存在定理を用いるところにある。その存在定理の証明ま大変困難で,相互法則を用いると大変簡単になるのが問題点である。
    筆者は,同型定理‥分解法則の証明に用いられる存在定理は実は限定された種類のものであることを指摘し,限定された存在定理はごく簡単に証明できることを示した。かくして「高木の等式」⇒「高木の類体論」⇒「相互法則」⇒「存在定理」のル-トが確立し,見通しのよい証明法が得られたと確信する。なおこの証明構成は津田塾大学でひらかれた研究会で報告し,論文集も4月には発行されるが,その成度にのっとった類体論の証明を単行書として日本評論社から評行の予定である。

    1.ユニタリ-群の類数の研究。虚2次体Kを係数とする正値ユニタリ-形式の類数を求める問題は代数群の数論に於ける一つの基本問題であるが、本研究ではこれをSelbergの跡公式を応用する事により求める事を試みた。この方法は既に四元数環や二次形式の類数の計算で応用され多くの成果が上げられているが、ユニタリ-群(正値エルミ-ト形式)ではこれが最初の成果である。まず一般階数のユニタリ-群の共役類の分類研究をし、次に跡公式の主要項であるMass formulaの具体的表示の初等的証明を与えた。また階数が2、及び3の場合に、unimodular latticeを含む種(genus)の類数に対する具体的公式を与えた。
    2.P-進離散群のSelberg-Ihara型ゼ-タ関数の研究。伊原氏はLie群の離散群に対するSelbergゼ-タ関数の類似をP-進体K上の二次特殊線形群(PSL(2、K)の離散群に対して考察し著しい結果を得た。本研究では伊原の結果をK-rankが1の線形代数群に一般化する事を試み、所期の成果を収めたものである。主要な成果はゼ-タ関数の有理式表示及び特殊因子(1-u)が商空間の2乗可積分関数空間のスペクトル分解に於いて所謂Steinberg表現に対応し両者の重複度が等しいという結果である。
    3.有限グラフのゼ-タ関数の研究。上記2の研究を更に一般化したもので、任意の連結有限グラフXとその基本群の有限次ユニタリ-表現pに対してゼ-タ関数Z(X、p;u)を定義し、これに関数行列式としての表示を与え、それより導かれる多くの性質を研究した。

  • 量子群上の調和解析と差分系のスペクトル理論

    当該年度において,上記研究課題の量子群を含む,数理物理上のいくつかの主題(場の量子論,ソリトン方程式)及び,コンピュ-タ-科学について著しい研究の進展があった。まず,代表者上野は,非compact量子群SU_q(1,1)の球関数に対するPlancheralの公式を,カシミ-ル作用素に対応するqー差分作用素のスペクトル構造を調べることにより証明した。(Spectral Analysis for the Carimir Operator on the Quantum Group SU_q(1,1),Boc.Japan Acad,vol66 SirA(1990))注目すべきは,リ-群SU(1,1)に対する同種の公式に現われないユニタリ-表現の系列がPlancheralの公式に関与するという事実である。すなわち,ユニタリ-表現の主系列の構造が,量子群SU_q(1,1)とリ-群SU(1,1)では全く異なるのである。さらに,上野は,高ランクの量子対称空間の球関数論を考察した。(Zonal Spherical Functions on Quantum Symmetric Spaces and Macdonald's Symmetric Polynomials to appear in the Proceedings of the 1st Somester on Quantum Groups,EIMI,Leningrad '90)量子対称空間GL_q(n)/O_q(n)を然るべく定義した後,n=3の時,この空間上の不変q差分作用素を計算し,結果として,組合せ論,代数群において重要な役割を演ずるMacdonalの対称多項式が球関数であることを発見した。これは量子群の研究において画企的なことと信ずる。この方面の研究は現在も継続中である。また分担者群敏昭は,無限次元グラスマン多様体上の自由フェルミ場の理論を拡張すべく,S^3上のディラック方程式の固有関数で張られる無限次元グラマン多様体の理論を構築し,場の量子論への応用を試みた。堤正義はソリトン方程式のCauchy問題,境界値問題の研究で進展を見た。最後に,廣瀬健は,コンピュ-タ-・アルゴリズムについて基礎論からのアプロ-チを行った

  • 無限次元リー群およびリー環の表現とその応用

    当該年度において上記研究課題の下で、下記の成果および追展があった。Vuiasoro代数の可約Verma加群Vhc((h,C)(〓^2)をパラメータ化する多項式の決定と可約Verma間のInterting作用素を頂点作用素を用いて表示する計算に、特別の場合にではあるが成功した。又、頂点作用素環の定式化と偶二次形式をもつ格子から頂点作用素環の構成に有効な知見を得た。分担者の上野喜三雄はMacdonan-1多項式を統御する量子群が"Upt(ηl∞)"であるべきだとの立場から、Belavinの完全Zm対線行列の概念を更に発展させ完全Z対称R行列の概念を導入し、その方程式をみたしていることを示した。又、Rの有限次元表現も構成している。上野は他に、量子SU(1,1)群のCasimier作用素の不変q-差分作用素のスペクトル解析についての結果も出している。分担者の郡敏昭は、Virasono代数の自然な拡張であるVat(S^3)のある中心拡大代数を把えることに成功した。即ち、多様体上の擬微分作用素環上のコサイクルを利用してVect(S^3)上の非自明なコサイクルを表現論的な計算を通じて具体的に与えたもので、この中心拡大代数は今後この方面の重要な研究対象になると考えている。この他、投稿基準中であるがBowdary Value Proflem for the Dirai Operators on S^4"でDirac作用素の固有関数で張られる無限次元Grassman多様体を用いて、場の量子論の試みを行っている。橋本喜一朗は、有限グラフXの自己同型群Aut(X)のある部分群Gとその有限次元表現Pに付随するArtin型L-関数L(m,p.X,G)を定式化し、これがある線型作用素の行列式で表示できることを証明し、有限グラフのPrime cycleに対する密度定理を巧妙な方法で証明している。この研究は有限グラフのSelfcrag-伊原のξ-関数の研究に連なる重要なものである

  • 関数方程式の総合的研究

    当該年度において、上記研究課題について数理物理学に表される各種の偏微分方程式に対して研究等で著るしい発展があった。まず、山田義雄は、熱対流方程式の外部領域における混合問題の大域解の存在性、一環性および漸近挙動について調べた。類似の問題は、従来ナビア-ストークス方程式等については知られていたが、熱対流方程式に関しては始めての結果であると思われる。(Tokyo J.Math,Vol15)さらに山田は、界面における化学反応方程式の漸近的挙動に対しても新しい結果を得ている。(Osaka J.Math Vol29)また鈴木武は、統計的仮設検定問題において、ベイズリスクと統計的十分性の関係に注目して、ベイズ危険により漸近十分性を特徴ずけている(Statistics & Resisions Vol15)また、非エルゴード的確率過程モデルにおいて、最大確率推定量を定義し、その特質を論じている(Bull.Sui.& Eng.Lal.Waseda.Uniu)さらに上野喜三雄は、非コンパクト量子群SU_q(I,1)の球関数に対するブランシェレルの公式をカシミール作用素に対応するq-差分作用素のスペクトル構造を調べることにより証明した。郡は、S^4のディラック作用素に対する境界値問題を研究し、場の量子論への応用を試みた。以上の様に、特に数理物理学あるいは応用数学において表われる各種の関数方程式に対して、注目すべき成果が多く得られた

  • 無限自由度の可積分系および無限次元代数

    三輪と神保は質量0のXXZ模型のボゾン化を、実直線上のボゾンを使うやり方で実現し、楕円的量子群の極限がレベル1の表現として実現していることを示した.伊達はオンサーガ-代数の商構造をイジング模型とそれを含む超可積分カイラル・ポッツ模型について調べた.増田はqの絶対値1でかつコンパクト型の量子群について調べ、それが2次元の非可換トーラスの量子対称性を記述することを明らかにした.野海はマクドナルド多項式に関係する昇降演算子を構成し、整性予想を解決した.上野はqの絶対値が1の場合のqの絶対値が1の場合のq変形された超幾何函数と多重ガンマ関数、多重サイン関数の関係を調べ、積分公式を得た.稲見は4次元の非線型シグマ模型の対称性を検討しトロイダル代数が対称性の代数になっていることを発見した.柏原は量子群の有限次元既約表現について考察し、ドリンフェルトによる結果を精密化して、任意の既約表現はその因子をスペクトルパラメタの大きさの順序に並べたテンソル積の中に最高ウェイトベクトルを含む部分加群として実現されることを示した.梁は戸田格子のスペクトル曲線を仲立ちとして、2次元位相的共形場理論、4次元N=2のサイバーグ・ウィッテン解、さらにN=2の超弦双対性が結びつくことを明らかにした.土屋は共形場理論のN点の行列要素の全体をリー環で不変な部分を法とした空間で考えたときに退化したアフィンヘッケ環の表現空間としてとらえられることを示し、その指標公式を自由分解する予想を提出した

    今年度の研究は、申請書において提案した研究テーマの中の「多重ガンマ関数を多重q-ガンマ関数の視点から研究する」ことについて、大きな効果を揚げることができた。すなわち、共同研究者である西沢道知(早大大学院生)が導入した多重q-ガンマ関数の古典極限(q→1-0)を考察することにより、以下の三つの事実を示すことができた。(1)多重q-ガンマ関数の古典極限はVignerasの意味での多重ガンマ関数(以下、たんに多重ガンマ関数という)に一致する。(2)(1)の結果を経由することで、z→∞における多重ガンマ関数の漸近展開(高次のStirling formula)を示した。(3)(1)の結果を経由することで、多重ガンマ関数のWeierstrass積表示を具体的に求めることができた。これは、Riemannゼータ関数の導関数の負整数点における値を用いて書き下される。BarnesあるいはVignerasの意味での多重ガンマ関数は、整数論、近年の量子可積分系の研究で重要な役割を演ずるが、その割りには詳細な研究がなされていなかった。今回の成果が、これらの分野にある程度影響を及ぼすのではないかと考えている。これらの成果は、11月ポーランドで開催された国際研究会「Quantum Groups and Quantum Spaces」において発表し、その会議録に概要が掲載される予定である。タイトルは対応する本論文も完成しており、しかるべき雑誌に投稿する予定でいる。ポーランドの研究以外にも、95年日本数学会秋季総合分科会、九州大学数理学研究科、北海道大学数学教室のセミナーおいて発表した。また、関連するテーマである量子可積分系、頂点作用素代数について、東北大学の黒木玄氏、大阪大学の永友清和氏を招いて講演会を開催し意見交換を行った

  • 多重ガンマ関数と多重qガンマ関数の基礎と応用

    この数年来ガンマ関数の一族とも云うべき特殊関数を研究してきた。93年度のqゼータ関数の研究に始まって、Vignerasの多重ガンマ関数とNishizawa(西澤道知)のq多重ガンマ関数の研究を経由して、今年度はBarnesの二重ガンマ関数を応用として|q|=1におけるq超幾何差分方程式の積分解を研究した。q超幾何差分方程式の解析的な解の構造は、|q|<1(特に、0<q<1)の場合には十分深く理解されており、また、量子SU(2),量子SU(1,1)のユニタリ表現への応用も知られている。しかし、量子SL(2,R)のユニタリ表現の立場からは|q|=1(ただし、1の巾根は除外)の場合が重要である。q差分方程式は|q|<1と|q|=1では性質が全く異なり、後者の場合のq差分方程式の研究は未開の分野に等しい。今年度の研究において、|q|=1でのq超幾何差分方程式の解析的な解として2種類の積分解を提示した。ひとつ超幾何級数に対するBarnesの積分表示の類似であり、もうひとつの積分解はEulerの積分表示の類似と見なせる(ただし、積分路は非有界)。これらの積分解は、|q|=1におけるqガンマ関数により書かれるのだが、このqガンマ関数の構成にBarnesの二重ガンマ関数が必要とされるのである。このように積分解を構成することには成功したのだが、これらの解の線型独立性、漸近挙動、あるいは接続公式といったごく基本的なことも分からない状態でいる。これらの問題点の解明も含めて、|q|=1におけるq差分方程式の研究、さらには、量子SL(2,R)の研究を進めていきたい

  • 整数論にあらわれる特殊関数の代数解析的研究

    　View Summary

    平成１５年度の前半は，形式的Knizhnik- Zamoldchikov 方程式の解の接続問題をシャッフル代数の構造定理を用いることにより精密に解析し，それが多重高次対数関数 (multipl polylogarithm)のオイラー型接続公式とLanden型接続公式を合わせたものと等価であることを示すことに成功した．これを高次対数関数 (polylogarithm) の場合に限ったものをメリン変換したものから，多重ゼータ値の関係式であるところの「和公式」が得られる．この結果は　”Proceeding of the conference on Zeta Functions, Topology, Quantum Physics” に発表の予定である．また，もうじき出版される論文　”Relations for Multiple Zeta Values and Mellin Transforms of Multiple Polylogarithms ”では，「和公式」の拡張に相当する「大野関係式」の自然な母関数を逆メリン変換したものからLanden型接続公式が得られることが示されている．この ようやり方で多重対数関数のみたす接続公式，あるいは，関数方程式から多重ゼータ値のみたす関係式がすべて得られることが期待される．次に平成 １５年度の後半であるが，コンピュータ言語理論の一種である，オートマトン理論を応用して，多重ゼータ値の関係式を得る，という研究を行った．もともとの アイデアはフランスのWaldschmidt教授によるものであるが，我々の研究によって，このアイデアの適用範囲が飛躍的に拡がった．

  • q-解析学における特殊関数の代数的研究

    今年度は、これまでの『多重ゼータ値(MZV）』に関する研究をまとめる論文を博士課程大学院生の奥田順一と執筆し、プレプリントサーヴァーにアップした。"Relations for Multiple Zeta Values and MellinTransforms of Multiple Polylogarithms'' （by Jun-ichi Okuda andKimio Ueno, arXiv:math.NT/0301277）この論文においてはMZVの間に成り立つ『大野関係式』に着目し、まず、この関係式の母関数を作り、これがみたす差分漸化式を証明した。ここまでは、昨年度発表した論文 "New Approach to Ohno Relation for MultipleZeta Values'' (by Jun-ichi Okuda and Kimio Ueno, arXiv:math.NT/0106148）で発表済みになっている）。本論分では、さらに、この母関数の逆メリン変換像が多重高次対数関数（multiple polylogarithm、MPLと略す）のみたすLanden formula と同等であることを示した。Landen formulaはMPL系の1と無限遠点との間の接続公式と同等であり、結局、我々は大野関係式が、メリン変換－逆メリン変換を通じて、MPL系のモノドロミー問題として解釈できることを示すのに成功したのである。論文は平成15年の1月に完成し、その後、京都大学数理解析研究所紀要に投稿された。この論文の結果は、部分的にはこれまで日本数学会、数理解析研究所の研究会などにおいて発表されていたが、この平成15年3月3日から6日まで近畿大学で開催された国際会議"Zeta Functions, Topology and Quantum Physics''において共同研究者の奥田順一が理論の全容を初めて発表し（3月4日、奥田順一"Multiple Zeta Values and Mellin Transforms of Multiple Polylogarithms''）、国内外の研究者の注目を集めた。論文の続編、および、上記の国際会議報告論文は現在準備しているところである。これらの論文ではMPLに対するEuler型接続公式をメリン変換することによって生ずるMZVの線型関係式と、井原－金子－Zagier等による有限複シャッフル関係式、正則化された無限複シャッフル関係式について考察を展開する予定である。

    ゼータ関数の背後には，豊かで未知な特殊関数の世界が存在する。例えば，多重ガンマ関数，多重対数関数はゼータ関数の世界から発生する。同様に，ゼータ関数のq類似の背後にも重要な特殊関数が潜んでいる。95年度特定課題の研究目的として，これら特殊関数の世界を調べることを掲げた。今年度の成果は，その特殊関数のなかでも特にガンマ関数に係わるものである。「多重ガンマ関数を多重q-ガンマ関数の視点から研究する」ことについて，大きな成果を揚げることができたのである。 すなわち，共同研究者である西沢道知（理工学研究科大学院生）が導入した多重q-ガンマ関数の古典極限（q→1-0）を考察することにより，以下の三つの事実を示すことに成功した。（1）多重q-ガンマ関数の古典極限はVignerasが1979年に導入した多重ガンマ関数（以下，たんに多重ガンマ関数という）に一致する。（2）（1）の結果を経由することで，z→∞における多重ガンマ関数の漸近展開（高次のStirling公式）を求めた。（3）（1）の結果を経由することで，多重ガンマ関数のWeierstrass型無限積表示を具体的に求めることができた。これは，Riemannゼータ関数の導関数の負整数点における値を用いて書き下される。 Barnesは前世紀から今世紀初頭にかけて多重ガンマ関数の研究を行った。彼の意味での多重ガンマ関数は，Hurwitzの一般多重ゼータ関数のs=0での導関数値から定義されるものである。一方，Vignerasは1979年に，Bohr-Mollerupの定理を一般化から，多重ガンマ関数を導入した。Vignerasの多重ガンマ関数は，ある乗法的因子を除けば，Bames多重ガンマ関数の特別な場合と見なすことができるのだが，この乗法的因子を完全に決定することは難しく，これまで成功していなかった。また，その為に「高次のStirling公式」，「無限積表示」を求めることができなかった。 今年度の研究成果はこの難問題を完全に解決したのである。 BarnesあるいはVignerasの意味での多重ガンマ関数は，解析的整数論において重要な役割を果たす。また，近年の量子可積分系（量子ソリトン，QKZ方程式）の研究においても，多重ガンマ関数から高次の相反公式を通じて定義される多重サイン関数が本質的に用いられる。このように多重ガンマ関数，多重サイン関数は数学の至るところで顔を出す関数であるが，その割りには詳細な研究がなされて来なかった。今回の研究成果はこれらの特殊関数の研究に大きな影響を及ぼすのではないかと考えている。 今年度の成果は，95年11月ワルシャワで開催された国際研究会 "Quantum Groups and Quantum Spaces" において発表し，その会議録に下記の論文が掲載される予定である。 The multiple gamma funtion and its q-analogue (with Michitomo NISHIZAWA) また，証明を詳述した下記の論文も完成しており，権威ある学術雑誌に投稿中である。 The multiple gamma functions and the multiple q-gamma functions （with Michitomo NISHIZAWA） ポーランドにおける発表のほかにも，95年度日本数学会秋季総合分科会，九州大学整理学研究科，北海道大学数学教室のセミナーおいて講演を行った。
