    In this project, the functions of proper names in German literature from the Middle Ages to the present were examined. The focus was particularly on the functions of “Mythologizing” and “Fictionalization”. The findings clearly revealed that three essential aspects, that is, “productivity”, “fictionality”, “negativity” are recognized in proper names in literary texts
