(1)Ian Agolがアナウウンスした「3次元双曲空間上の2つの放物的変換が生成する自由でない離散群は,2 橋結び目群Heckoid 群に限る」という分類定理に完全な証明を与えることを目指した秋吉宏尚,大鹿健一,John Parkerとの共同プロジェクトにおいて,双曲的軌道体のある無限族が Agolのリストに加わるという可能性が残る,という問題を除いては,証明をつけることができた．次年度はこの無限族を排除できることの証明を目指す.(2) 2つの放物的変換が生成する群は原点を除いた複素平面によりパラメータ付けできる。デーン手術の観点から見ると,全てのそのような群は幾何的な意味を持ち,その観点からパラメータ空間の自然なタイル張りが得られるという予想を確立し，下記の三つの国際研究集会で発表した．Geometry and Topology of 3-manifolds workshop, 2018年5月，OIST: Representation varieties and geometric structures in low dimensions, 2018年7月，Warwick: Classical and Quantum 3-Manifold Topology，2018年12月, Monosh Univ.(3) Thurstonの研究が結び目理論に及ぼした影響に関するサーベイ "Impact of Thurston's work on knot theory" (89p.)を執筆した．このサーベイは論文集 "In tradition of Thurston" から出版予定である．(4) 佐伯修,島田伊知朗, 徳永浩雄,吉永正彦と共同で，異分野融合国際研究集会「Branched coverings, degenerations, and related topics 2019」を開催した．これまでの研究を通して,2橋結び目群,Heckoid群,2つの放物的変換が生成するクライン群の解明が進み,また研究成果も論文として 着実に発表している.(1)Ian Agolがアナウウンスした2つの放物的変換が生成するクライン群の分類定理の証明において,残りの双曲軌道体の無限族が排除できることを証明する．(2)Riley slice外部の網目構造の解明を目指す.(3)すでに11回を数えた国際研究集会「Branched coverings, degenerations, and related topics」を継続発展させる

When $(X,\cdot)=({\mathbb Z},+)$ a right-recursive sequence is a left-recursive sequence and it is a Fibonacci type sequence defined on ${\mathbb Z}$. We study various right-recursive sequences and left-recursive sequences. We also study various surjective right-recursive sequences and left-recursive sequences

Using the knot as a key word, we have been working to encourage the development of mathematics in general, with a view of the related physics, chemistry and biology. Based on Osaka City University Mathematics Research Institute as an activity base and based on research cooperation agreements with 8 institutes in East Asia, we aimed to build a research network with Asia. We supported participation in many international or domestic regular meetings such as the satellite knot theory international conference of the Seoul International Congress of Mathematicians. Throughout these meetings, numerous important research results were obtained by a number of knot related researchers including research planning workers, which include research achievements obtaining two patents on the game "Region Select" applying the knot theory and solving a pending issue of 45 years of a ribbon 2-knot by the research representative

The author calculated the asymptotic expansion of the Kashaev invariant for some hyperbolic knots, and proved the volume conjecture for these knots. Further, the author proved "the volume conjecture for 3-manifolds" for hyperbolic 3-manifolds obtained by integral surgery along the figure-eight knot.The author held the workshop "Intelligence of Low-dimensional Topology" at RIMS in each year. Further, the author held the topology symposium in 2014 and 2015. Furthermore, Taniyama, Motegi and Ohyama held the workshop "Musubime no Sugaku (Mathematics of Knots)" in each year

We have studied puzzle ring problem by formulating it into a problem of site-specific crossing change distance of spatial graphs. In stead of group presentation arguments known so far we have used covering space arguments. We have also studied when a composition of discontinuous maps is continuous.

A circle in the 3-dimensional space is called a knot. There exist many kinds of knot since the difference of the dimensions between a knot and a space where a knot exists is two. When we project a knot into the plane and give the over and under crossing information, we have the figure called a knot diagram. A knot whose any diagram has not only real crossings but also virtual crossings is called a virtual knot.A local move is the operation which changes the local figure into another figure on a knot diagram. If two knots or two virtual knots can be transformed into each other by local moves, the minimal number of necessary local moves can be considered as a metric. We study relations between the positions of knots in the metric space of knots by a local move and knot invariants, and the property of this metric space, for example, the width of the metric space

We have studied spatial graphs from a viewpoint of the concept multiplicity. We have define the concept multiplicity on a category. As an example, we defined a multiplicity of a knot over another knot. For a continuous map from a three-dimensional Euclidean space to the three-dimensional Euclidean space that maps a knot to another knot, we studied their knot types.

We tie a knot and identify the end points of it. That figure having no end points is called "a knot" in Topology. A graph in R^3 is called a spatial graph. Two knots or spatial graphs are thought to be same if we transform one into another continuously in R^3 and the same mathematical value is made to correspond to the same knots or spatial graphs. The value is called an invariant. The finite type invariant is an invariant that classifies all the knot invariants by order. In this study, we define a new invariant for spatial graphs and investigate the property of it. For knots, we introduce the notion of a metric or a complex and we investigate the property of finite type invariants in the knot space

For a link L in a thickened surface, we had defined the bracket <L) and the link-invariant F (L, A) which are computable directly from a link diagram for L with respect to the projection from the thickened surface to the surface. Both <L) and F (L, A) are evalued as elements of the free module with Laurent polynomial coefficients generated by the integer 1 and all isotopy classes of lcodimension 1 inks in the surface without trivial component. If a (thickened) surface is simply connected, <L) and F (L, A) are equivalent to Kauffman's bracket polynomial and Jones polynomial respectively. Knots and links in non simply connected thickened surfaces cause not only locally knotted-linked phenomena (, I. e. those in a topological 3-ball) but also globally knotted-linked phenomena. <L) and F (L, A) reflect well both such phenomena. The main purposes of this Project are (1) research of properties of <L) and F (L, A), (2) generalization of know results for knots and links in the 3-sphere to thicked surface case by using the results of (1), and (3) application of the results of (1) and (2) to 3-manifold theory. Our special interest is to get results on global phenomena (for example, supporting genus, see 4 below). Main results of this Project are the followings:1) We have the formulae on modified F (L, A) corresponding to product of links in thickened surfaces which is a generalization of the formulae on Jones polynomial corresponding to those of links in the 3-sphere.2) Kauffman-goldman defined conductance for special tunnel links in the thickened 2-punctured plane and showed that it is is a link invariant by the method based on electric network with two terminals. We had an alternative proof based on the property of <D) and a generalization for links in thickened multi-punctured planes which corresponds to conductance of electric networks with multi terminals.3) We tried a generalization of F (L, A) whose coefficients are multi-variable Laurent polynomials reflecting the number of components of links (cf. Multivariable Alexander polynomial) and had several results.4) We had a complete proof of the key lemma to decide supporting genus of links with connected alternating link diagram and completed the proof of Tait type Theorem for alternating links in thickened surfaces

In 1990, Vassiliev invariants for knots were defined. They order all knot invariants and they are also called finite type invariants. The first aim of this research is to study the finite type invariants by combinatorial methods. The start point is the following result proved by Goussarov and Habiro independently ; two knots have the same Vassiliev invariants of order less than n if and only if they can be transformed into each other by a finite sequence of C_n-moves.As a joint work with Prof. Yasutaka Nakanishi, we have that for any given pair of a natural number n and a knot K, there exist infinitely many knots whose Vassiliev invariants of order less than or equal to n and Conway polynomials coincide with those of K. In the finite type invariants, the coefficients of the Conway polynomial are not powerful to classify the knots.C_n-moves may change the Vassiliev invariants of order n. As a joint work with Harumi Yamada, we showed that a standard C_n-move can change the coefficient of z^n by 0 or ±2. It is possible to say that we nearly cleared the relation between C_n-moves and the coefficients of the Conway polynomial.We can define the simplicial complex for the set of knots by using C_n-moves and it is called the C_n-Gordian complex of knots. Let K be a knot and K^<C_n> the set of knots obtained from K by a single C_n-move. We showed that there are knots K_1 and K_2 such that they have the same Conway polynomial and the sets of Conway polynomials of K_1^<C_n> and those of K_2^<C_n> do not coincide, as a joint work with Prof. Yasutaka Nakanishi. This theorem are related to the C_n-Gordian complex and the Conway polynomial and we consider an expansion of the result

We studied 3-maintolds itself and knote, links and graphs contained in 3-maintolds. And we held symposiums or workshops sevel times studing there (Mn-move) and studied the differences among foundary links, h-split links and sparate ribbon links using Mn-move. And we also showed that Mn-moves can be used a classification of ribbon knots. We studied vassiliev invariants for spatial graphs in the 3-sphere. And also studied to divide a topological space into two disjoint homeomorphic spaces

1、大山淑之氏(名工大)との共同研究において以下を示した。有限グラフを1つ固定して、その空間への埋め込みを考えたとき、その空間グラフに含まれる結び目全体の集合には制限が加えられることを、結び目のバシリエフ不変量を使って示した。一般にバシリエフ不変量の次数を固定したとき、空間グラフの部分グラフのバシリエフ不変量たちのあいだに一定の関係式が成立するかどうかが判定可能であることを示した。応用として空間グラフの中の結び目たちの制限として種々の結果を得た。
2、安原晃氏(東京学芸大)との共同研究において以下を示した。結び目の局所変形が、ブルーニアン型であるということを定義して、空間グラフの中の結び目たちの実現問題に応用した。例えば、デルタ型変形は3成分ブルーニアン変形であることと、任意の2つの結び目はデルタ型変形で互いに移りあうことより、空間グラフの中のある3辺を通る結び目について、その3辺を通らない全ての結び目の型を変えることなく、任意の結び目におきかえることが出来ることがわかる。
3、富川仁子氏(東京女子大)との共同研究において以下を示した。次数mのシーター曲線と円周の直積空間を4次元ユークリッド空間に埋め込むとm(m-1)/2個の4次元空間内のトーラスが得られる。逆にm(m-1)/2個のリボン型のトーラスを与えたときにそれらが次数mのシーター曲線と円周の直積の埋め込みの部分空間として一度に実現されることを示した。
4、塚本恵実香氏(東京女子大)との共同研究において以下を示した。有限単純3連結グラフの自己同型群の元が、グラフの3次元球面へのある埋め込みと、3次元球面上の向きを保つある自己同相写像によって実現されるための必要十分条件を完全に決定した。

シャープ最大関数と呼ばれる最大関数およびある種のLittlewood-Paley型関数に関していくつかの結果を得た.(1)シャープ最大関数を用いて定義される関数空間C^α_Pについて,そのアトム分解による特徴付けは今年度に論文として公表したが,そのアトムはモーメントが0になるという条件を満たさないものであった.今年度の研究でモーメントが0になるアトムを使ってC^α_Pが特徴付けできることがわかった.この結果はユークリッド空間の通常の距離に関するC^α_Pに対するものなので,今後この点を改良して非等方的な距離の場合へも一般化し,論文としてまとめたい.(2)A.Seeger(1989)がある種のLittlewood-Paley型関数を用いて導入した関数空間に関して,ユークリッド空間の領域上での関数空間の関数をユークリッド空間全体へ延長する問題について,延長に関するある一般的な定理とSeegerの延長定理のある改良とを示すことができた.この結果は論文にまとめ現在投稿中である.(3)シャープ最大関数を用いて定義される関数空間C^α_Pの定義を少し変形してLorentz空間を利用すると関数の各点毎の積に関してalgebraをなす関数空間を定義できることがわかった.現在のところ得られている結果はユークリッド空間全体の上の関数空間についてだけなので,今後これをユークリッド空間の領域の場合へ一般化して論文にまとめたい.
シャープ最大関数やアトム分解が特異積分作用素やFourier積分作用素の有界性を示すのに有用であることはよく知られている.今年度の研究で振動積分作用素に関してはっきりした成果は得られなかったが,今年度の成果は将来,振動積分作用の研究に役立てられると考えている,
他に分担者によって裏面の研究発表欄に記したような数々の成果があった.

有限次代数体Kの判別式が簡単な形をしているとき,適当な二次体Q(√m)とKのQ上のガロワ閉胞Lの合成体L(√m)がQ(√m)の上の不分岐拡大を与えることがある。そのような典型的な場合として次の結果が得られた(cf.T.Kondo Some examples of unramified extensions over quadratic fields,Science Reports of T.W.C.U.,Vol 124,p1399-1410)
定理n次代数体Kの判別式がδ^2(δは平方因子のない奇数)の形をしているとき,Kの有理数体Q上のガロワ閉胞Lのガロワ群Gは次の群の一つである:
(1)G=An(n次交代群),(2)n=8でG=Hol(Z^3_2)(位数δの基本P-ベル群のホロモルフ),(3)n=7でG=PSL(2,7),(4)n=6でG=PSL(2,5),(5)n=5でG=D_<10>(位数10の正二面体群)。さらにGかつ(2),(3),(4)の場合にはδlmとするときL(√m)/Q(√m)は不分岐拡大となる。

以下の3つの研究を行なった。
1.平面的グラフ,つまり平面R^2に埋め込み可能な有限グラフGのR^2への連続写像で一般の位置にあるもの,つまり多重点が辺による横断的な2重点のみであるもので,Gの空間R^3内へのアンビエント・アイソトピーの範囲で自明な埋め込みの正則射影としては実現されない例が存在することを示した。この結果は早稲田大学理工学部の塚本達也氏によって次の様に一般化された。平面的グラフの空間への埋め込みG≦R^3を1つ固定したとき、ある平面的グラフとそのR^2への一般の位置にある連続写像が存在して,それを正則射影として実現する全ての空間に埋め込まれたグラフはGとアンビエント・アイソトピックな部分グラフを含む。
2.有限グラフGの空間R^3への2つの埋め込みがホモロガスになるための必要十分条件はそれらのWu不変量が一致することであることを示した。ここで2つの埋め込みがホモロガスであるとは、Gと単位区間の直積に可向閉曲面を連結和したものか

3次元・4次元多様体及びそれに含まれている結び目、絡み目、グラフ、曲面について幾何、代数、解析的手法及び計算機を駆使して多方面から研究を行った。多様体の葉層構造、力学系、特性コホモロジー、ホモトピー、交叉形式の理論、関数環の分析などを手がかりに、多様体のDS-diagramと組み合わせ論的研究、特に3次元多様体を球面上のグラフに変え、それを組み合わせ論的に研究した。1つの多様体を定めてその中に含まれる結び目、絡み目、グラフの分類、特に空間グラフ(spatial graph)の分類についてや平面的グラフ(planar graph)を空間に埋め込んで結び目としての射影の結果を得た。グラフ上の全てのサイクルと同じ個数の任意の結び目を用意し、その結び目を全て実現しているような空間グラフが存在するとき、そのグラフは順応性を持つというが、この順応性(adaptability)を持つグラフについていくつかの結果を得た。またグラフの空間表現において何を標準的なものとすべきかという問題を考え、2つの標準的と考えられる概念を提案し、それに沿っていくつかの結果を得た。空間グラフを分類する同値関係としてグラフホモローグという概念を導入し、この同値関係に関する完全不変量を導入し、これによってグラフホモローグによる分類が完全に出来ることを示した。さらにユークリッド空間内のグラフに対して全曲率を定義して、いくつかのグラフに対して全曲率がいつ最小になるかを決定した。この結果は閉曲線の全曲率に対する微分幾何学の古典的結果の一般化になっており、今後の発展が期待される。

空間グラフの頂点ホモトピーによる分類のために必要とされるであろう頂点ホモトピー不変量として新たに2成分絡み目のコンウェイ多項式の3次の係数に基づいたものを構成した。さらにこの不変量をより一般的な立場から説明するであろう不変量として空間グラフの補空間の基本群のある剰余群で頂点ホモトピー不変量となるものを定義した。また結び目理論では任意の絡み目の任意の正則射影図は交差の上下を適当に入れ換えて自明な絡み目の射影図にすることが出来ることが知られているが、同様のことは一般の平面グラフでは成立しないことを示した。すなわち正体グラフの正則射影でどのように上下をつけてもホップ絡み目を含むものが存在する。また非自明なハンドカフグラフの正則射影全体の集合は有限個の非自明なハントカフグラフの正則射影の集合の和集合とはならないことを示した。この結果は結び目、絡み目、テーター曲線に関する従来の結果から見て意外な結果である。

研究実施計画に沿って、まず、各分野からアルゴリズムに関するさまざまな問題を拾い出してみた。その結果、代数の分野ではエラー訂正コードに関する問題、幾何学の分野では結び目理論や空間グラフに関する問題、確率統計の分野ではある種のコンピュータシミュレーションの問題、数学基礎論の分野では線形論理に関する問題、また、コンピュータサイエンスの分野からは木オートマトンに関する問題などを重点問題として選んで研究を進めた。
研究成果としては、必ずしもアルゴリズムに関する成果だけが得られたわけではないものの、「研究発表」欄に記載した発表論文以外にも、口頭発表したものや投稿中、投稿準備中のものがいくつかある。具体例を記すと、
1.2方向木オートマトンという新しい概念を導入して、それが1方向オートマトンを真に含む拡張になっていることを示した。一方、もう一つ別の方法で木オートマトンを拡張し、それとメモリ付き文脈自由文法との関係を明らかにした。
2.空間グラフに関するブック表現、コポルディズム、ホモトピー、ホモロジーについての性質や特徴付けが得られた。
3.数理論理学においてP-W問題と称されている問題に一つの構文的手法で解を与えた。
などが挙げられる。
コンピュータによるシミュレーションについては、現在その結果を検討中であり、結果次第では将来への発展が期待される。

1.For Knots and links. various topological equivalence relations are introduced, for example, (0)homeomorhic, (1)ambient isotopy, (2)link cobordism, (3)isotopy, (5)link homotopy. We generalized these relations for spatial embeddings of a graph. K.Taniyama defined various new equivalence relations ; that is, (4)I-equivalence, (6)weak link homotopy, (7)homology and (8)Z_2-homology, and establishes the following relation : (0)*(1)*(2)*(4)*(5)*(6)*(7)*(8) ; (1)*(3)*(4) ; (2) <double arrow> (3). We studied various invariants of spatial graphs under (i)-equivalence for every i. In particular, K.Taniyam introduced some new invariants under (5)and(7), and Y.Yokota some(1)-invariants. The Vassiliev type invariants were studied by T.Kanenobu et.al.
2.Spatial graphs became the center of attention in our group, and many people made attempt to generalize and/or extend the concepts and invariants of knots and links to spatial graphs. For example, Y.Ohyama studied some local moves for spatial graphs, and Mohashi-Ohyama-Taniyama estimated the minimnm crossing number of regular diagrams of spatial graphs in terms of the reduced degree of the Yamada polynomial. S.Kinoshita et.al studied the branched covering spaces of the 3-sphere branched over some graphs. MORIMOTO,T.KOBAYASHI,T et al obtained many results on the tunnel number of knots.
3.K.Kobayashi proposed "standard" spatial embeddings of graphs by using the book presentations. and some one studied on this topics. In particular, T.Otsuki picked up "canonical" ones from the standard embeddings, and gave some fundamental properties.

1.安原晃氏(東京学芸大学)との共同研究において、いくつかのグラフについてその空間埋め込みの構成結び目集合の完全な特徴付けを行なった。またいくつかのグラフについてはその空間埋め込みの構成2成分絡み目集合の完全な特徴付けを行なった。前者は結び目のConway多項式の2次の係数の言葉で、後者は絡み数の言葉でなされる。証明の手法としては空間グラフのデルタ分類とクラスプ・パス分類の理論と結び目・絡み目のバンド表示の理論を使った。2. George Washington UniversityのJozef Przytycki氏との共同研究において、金信泰造氏(大阪市立大学)と宮澤康行氏(山口大学)が提出した絡み目のHOMFLY多項式の係数に関する予想を肯定的に証明することで解決した。証明には絡み目のsimilarityの概念とVassiliev-Gusarov moduleのアナロジーを用いた。3.大山淑之氏(名古屋工業大学)との共同研究において空間グラフ内の結び目のバシリエフ不変量達の間の関係について考察した。具体的にはそれらの適当な和がいつグラフの埋め込みによらない不変量になるかならないか、またいつ埋め込みの頂点ホモトピー不変量になるかならないか、またいつ埋め込みの辺ホモトピー不変量になるかならないかを決定した。4.空間グラフは分離可能であるかまたはグラフと1点で交わりグラフを2つに分ける球面が存在するとき可約であると呼ばれる。空間内の位相的円板で空間グラフに対してある種の位置にあるものに対してそれを縮約して得られる空間グラフが可約でなければもとの空間グラフも可約でないことを証明した。これによっていくつかの空間グラフの非自明性が簡単に示せるようになった

有限グラフを1つ固定したとき、その3次元ユークリッド空間への埋め込み全体に対して、研究代表者は(1)全同位(2)同境(3)同位(4)I-同値(5)ホモトピー(6)弱ホモトピー(7)ホモロジーという7種の同値関係を、その多くは絡み目理論における概念の自然な一般化として定義した。そして、これらには自然な強弱関係があることを示し、これらの同値関係のもとでいつ空間グラフがほどけるかを決定した。絡み目に対してはミルナ-不変量を使ってホモトピー分類がなされているが、研究代表者は有限グラフについてもウ-不変量を使ってホモロジー分類を完成させている。これを弱ホモトピー分類にまで進展させるのが本研究の主目的であった。一般解は得られなかったが、特殊な有限グラフについては弱ホモトピーとホモロジーが一致することを示し、ウ-不変量によって弱ホモトピー分類が出来ることを示した。その特殊なグラフとは、互いに交わらぬ三辺が存在しないグラフ等のことで例えば5頂点

グラフの3次元空間(または3次元球面)の中への埋蔵に対して,最も自然な位相的な同値関係は(1)全同位である。一方,結び目や絡み目に対しては,(2)絡み目コボルディズム(3)同位,(5)絡み目ホモトピーナどの,幾つかの重要な位相的同値関係が定義され,研究されてきた。この研究ではまず,これらの同値関係を空間グラフに対して自然に一般化し,次に新しい同値関係(4)I-同値,(6)弱絡み目ホモトピー,(7)ホモロジー,(8)Z-2ホモロジーを導入した。そしてこれらの同値関係の間に次の基本的な関係があることを示した。

そしてこれらの同値関係に関して,次のような結果を得た。
(1)グラフGが(i)-同値を除いて一意的であるとは,Gの任意の2つの空間への埋蔵が(i)-同値となる場合をいう。各i=1,2,…8について,(i)-同値に関して一意的であるようなグラフの類を特徴づけた。
(2)1960年にW.T.Wuによって定義されたn次元空間内の有限複体に対する不変量を空間グラフについて詳細に研究し,これを用いてグラフGの3次元空間への埋蔵のホモロジー分類を与えた。また,空間グラフの正則表示からWuの不変量を計算する方法も与えた。
(3)テータ曲線とは,2つの頂点とこれらを結ぶ3本の辺から成る特別なグラフをいう。テータ曲線の空間への埋蔵f,gから,テータ曲線の新しい埋蔵f#gが自然に定義される;これをfとgの頂点連結和と呼ぶ。結び目のコボルディズム群と同じように,テータ曲線の空間への埋蔵のコボルディズム類の全体は,この頂点連結和を演算として群となることを示した。また,この群を結び目のコボルディズムと絡み目コボルディズムによって詳しく研究した。
2.頂点の近くが剛体的な空間的グラフの正則表示の交点数を,そのYamada多項式の簡約次数の言葉で評価した。最大次数が3以下のグラフについては,このような制限は意味を持たないので,この評価を用いてテータ曲線を中心に多くの空間グラフの最小交点数を決定することができた。

1) We obtained H^p estimate for the multilinear operators which are finite sums of pointwise products of singular integrals. The class of singular integrals considered include the Calderon-Zygmund singular integrals and fractional integrations of arbitrary orders. We also obtained the estimates of those multilinear operators in other Hardy type spaces.2) Using a sharp maximal function and the Lorentz spaces, we defined a function space which forms an algebra with respect to pointwise product of functions. This function space can be considered as a variant of the Sobolev space with the critical index.3) Using purely real variable method, we showed that one can define the weighted Hardy spaces with respect to doubling measures on arbitrary open subset of R^n. This result extends those of Stromberg and Torchinsky which were given in the Springer Lecture Note #1381, 1989.4) We proved two results conserning the extension of functions in A.Seeger's generalized Triebel-Lizorkin spaces.5) We obtained a generalization of Hardy's clasical theorem on the Fourier transform

2001年度:京都大学数理解析研究所においてプロジェクト研究「21世紀の低次元トポロジー」を開催した.このプロジェクトは1年間にわたるもので,数理研に国内外から低次元トポロジーの研究者を集め集中的に研究を行った.海外からの参加者は50名程度であり多くの講演と活発な討論が行なわれた.これによって,低次元トポロジーにおける種々の分野,特に3次元多様体の組み合わせ的な研究,4次元空間内の曲面結び目の研究,結び目や3次元多様体の量子不変量の研究に新たな見地を見出した.2002年度:主に2001年度に得られた研究成果を発表するとともに情報交換を行ない,我々の結果を広く理解してもらうとともに今後の研究の目標を立てることができた.4月に研究代表者と村上順は,カナダ・ケベック大学モントリオール校で開かれた体積予想に関する研究集会に招待され講演を行なった.体積予想というのは,R.Kashaevの予想を村上順と研究代表者が一般化したものであり,Jones多項式を初めとする量子不変量と幾何構造を結びつけるという意味から多くの研究者の注目を集めている.また,小林は7月に韓国高等高等理工学研究所に招かれて,3次元多様体論についての連続講義を行ない,谷山は8月に中国西安で開かれた,国際数学者会議のサテライト会議「Geometric Topology」においてグラフの成す絡み目に関する招待講演を行なった.大槻はこれまでに得られた量子不変量に関する成果を専門書「Quantum invariants,-A study of knots,3-manifolds, and their sets」の形にまとめた

Knot theory is related to most advanced modern mathematics and also to many research fields in science. The purpose of this program was to develop、in a national scale、both education and study of an extensive knot theory on the basis of the accomplishments of the 21 COE program of Osaka City Advanced Mathematical institute. The support project of international and domestic meetings was carried out steadily、and many new findings on knot theory could be obtained. Among such research activities、unique studies of knot theory such as the publication of an English book of teaching and learning methods of knot theory in school mathematics and three patent applications of knot theory were born
