    In this paper, the sites where production and living have been sustained over thousands of years are named Millennium Villages, and we presented a methodology for grasping the candidate sites. It is based on the past research that village names recorded in <Wamyô Ruiju Shô> were compared with current location and then verified. The specific locations have been plotted in a spatial map, a comprehensive and objective grasp becomes possible. There are around 2000 candidates of Millennium Village. The results have been widely analyzed and the preference of the site selection has been found.

    The characteristic of Kon, Wajiro "Nihon No Minka"(1922) is "common" houses featured in it. In this research， we restored and revisited the sites where they have been remaining， so that we could analyze the factor and transformation of private houses for about 90 years. In conclusion， we could acquire some perceptions in the following. 1) The term of investigation performed by Kon was divided into some different parts. In addition， there were the methods of selecting houses. 2) The transformation of houses has been affected by the policy of national land reform. 3) There're some common factors caused from situations in each houses. 4) The survival of houses is connected with situations whether owners have stayed or not.

    Many Japanese carpentry guide-books of the Edo Era and the Meiji Era contain explanations of kiku-jutsu, a traditional Japanese method of building guidelines used for wooden construction. In this article, the items of those books are classified into several groups in order to illustrate the transition that kiku-jutsu has made over the Edo and Meiji Periods. Our survey makes it clear that kiku-jutsu in the publications of the Meiji Era emphasizes a geometrical character which is seen not only in the roof shapes of traditional Japanese buildings but also in the roof shapes of the Western style buildings. Yet, though the works vary through the Edo and Meiji Periods, the basic foundation of kiku-jutsu is based on the kiku-jutsu of the Edo Period.

    Chinese ethnic dwellings have recently undergone numerous changes under the influence of economic growth, thus provoking discussions on the relationship between traditional inhabitation and modernization. This paper aims to investigate the effects of modernization on Tibetan residences from the perspective of Shangri-La’s unique multi-ethnic cultural milieu. The research was undertaken in Jidi Village, a traditional Tibetan settlement where the Matsutake industry has enabled residents to reconstruct traditional Tibetan structures by upgrading the local economy. Floor plans and section maps were drawn and analyzed based on a survey of residential buildings in Jidi village. Variations in construction and living situations were confirmed after interviews with Jidi locals. The results indicate that the horizontal distributions of Tibetan residential houses gradually transformed into a courtyard style in the past decades. Furthermore, we concluded that ethnic Han affected contemporary construction materials of Tibetan, whereas ethnic Bai influenced the architectural layouts and designs of architectural components through artisans’ techniques. This study emphasizes the need to cultivate ethnic craftspeople, such as Tibetan artisans in the Shangri-La region, whose numbers are declining due to modernization.

  • Historic conservation in Tibetan region amidst rapid urbanization: a case study of Dukezong Old Town

    Rapid economic growth in China has resulted in the revitalization of historic Chinese ethnic towns, impacting their spatial and renowned integrity. This study focuses on Dukezong Old Town (Domkhar Rdzong), a traditional Tibetan settlement in the southernmost Tibetan cultural region, to examine its historical revolutions under modern urban renewal. The study begins by highlighting the historic significance of the “Rdzong” to establish the core essence of Dukezong as a Tibetan traditional Rdzong-Shan settlement. Furthermore, spatial-dynamic analysis was conducted to demonstrate how the urban construction process has contributed to the diminishing presence of “Rdzong.” The findings indicate that urban renewal efforts in Dukezong have accelerated the deterioration of its historic urban form and diminished its original residential function. Drawing from Pre-existing Theory, strategies are proposed that involve preserving Rdzong’s traditional space without physical objects and sustaining Rdzong’s residential function to reinvigorate Dukezong’s distinctive cultural heritage. This study emphasizes the significance of recognizing a region’s historic significance, functions, and urban morphology in revitalizing historic towns inhabited by ethnic minorities. Moreover, it offers valuable insights into the relationship between urban preservation and renewal in other historic towns.

  • THE FORMATION PROCESS OF THE REGIONALISM VIEWING FROM THE DESIGN POLICY OF PEOPLE'S COMMUNE: Analysis on the case of planning of Weixing commune, Suiping county, Zhumadian city, Henan province

    <p> As the continuation of the research on the People' Commune, it has been discussed about the regional planning in the former paper, this paper will focus on the detailed architectural expression and the residential planning. Just like the former paper, the paper also takes the Weixing Commune which is the first funded People's Commune as the research object and tries to make it clear how the architectural expression was showed out in the design of People's Commune under the influence of Soviet which was the main source in the trend of thought in 1950s.</p><p> At first, through the introduction of the ideological trend of architecture around 1950s, we can find that under the ideology of Communism which somehow acted as a political issue, the field of architecture continued in the status of ideological confusion from 1950s. The designers of Weixing Commune from South China University of Technology also cannot escape from the overall situation which was the common phenomenon in China. They took lots of strategies to cater to the ideological trend. Though there was no definitive answer to this issue which was related to the problem of artistic conception, they started to focus on the practical stills like architecture construction. By analyzing the residential planning, we find that they tried to use the Soviet model to the commune. Moreover, when it turned to the detailed architecture design of the Commune Center, they implanted the elements from both the Modernism and Socialism Realism generated from Soviet, which was the dominating idea of 1950s in China. This study concluded that under the influence of concept of "traditional Chinese curved roof" which was generated from Socialism Realism in architecture, a newborn Regionalism finally emerged in China.</p><p> In conclusion, under the prevailing idea of Socialism Realism and Modernism in Architecture which run through ideology and a strong current of nationalism appeared in the field of architecture of China, architects of this case did try to put forward their proposals of the Chinese National Style and finally changed the route of design from 'Form' to 'Reality', which entirely contributed to the formation of the Regionalism in rural China through the movement of People's Commune.</p>

    This study aims to grasp the process of modernization in rural China during a period of social transformation that saw the overlapping of Communism and Modernism. Founded in 1958, Weixing Commune was the first funded People's Commune and a group of architectural professionals participated in its design. The analysis of the concept and planning method of Weixing commune clearly indicates that, when facing the task of designing the commune in the 1950s under the communist ideology, the design group tried to adapt the concept of modern urban planning from the west.

    <p> From 1950s to 1980s, in the modern history of China, a significant movement once happened in the ordinary rural areas throughout the whole country, that is People's Commune. As the precious legacy of the practice of Marxism, it has been researched in a broad range of fields like History, Sociology, Economics and so on. However, in the field of architectural history, the research on the People's Commune still remains a state of blank.</p><p> The Weixing Commune is known as the first funded People's Commune in 1958 in which a group of architectural professionals from South China University of Technology, which is one of the early-funded architecture school in China whose main staff completed their studies from the western world once took part in the planning and design of it. This paper tries to figure out how they planed the People's Commune, where was their design concept from in the period of social transformation overlapped between Communism and Modernism in 1950s.</p><p> Through the analysis of the proposal, this study made it clear that facing the new design topic under the ideology of Communism which somehow acted as a political task, the design group tried to use the idea of Neighborhood Unit put forward by an American planner named Clarence Arthur Perry, which is one of the most important concept of modern town planning in 20th century and adjusted it in some way fit to the rural villages to accomplish the spatialization of institution.</p><p> In conclusion, under the prevailing idea of Modernism in Architecture(1950s), the architects of this case did tried to put forward their proposals in the Commune planning. In the movement of People's Commune proposed by the Chinese government at that period, most of the Chinese architectural professionals just like the design group from South China University of Technology, did tried to use their knowledge of architecture to change the traditional villages, which somehow acted as a great chance for China to accept the idea of Urban Planning and Moderism architecture from the western world.</p>

    &amp;nbsp;When put straight a brick structured building, is a general term of building with brick masonry walls. But the interiors like roof truss, flooring and fittings are all structured of either wood or steel. From Meiji-era on, brick masonry has developed uniquely within Japan, as a new technical system. Plus, the wooden framing has seen an expansion by importing techniques form the West. However, how these independent technical systems were integrated, has not been mentioned hitherto.&lt;br&gt;&amp;nbsp;This paper studies in what relations the brick masonry and the wooden framing were used in construction of a single building by inspecting the Old Brick Warehouse of the Commercial Bank of Honjo, completed in 1896, as a case example.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&amp;nbsp;Firstly, I have analyzed the the planning of the brick masonry and wooden framing separately. As a result, overall plan of the brick masonry was possibly organized based on the Shakkan system. On the other hand, planning methods of the wooden frame is not affirmed.     &amp;nbsp;This paper reports the basic research and the background of the Old Brick Warehouse of the Commercial Bank of Honjo, completed in 1896, Honjo city, Saitama prefecture. This paper, is the first of the follow-through repots on this architecture.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&amp;nbsp;The results of this study are shown as bellow,&lt;br&gt;&amp;nbsp;(1) By referring to &amp;ldquo;Photography on Buildings by the Shimizu-kata&amp;rdquo; (volume 2), we have found out that the Warehouse was designed by Sotaro OKAMOTO and Teikichi SHIMIZU, both company staff of Shimizu-ten and so it was built by the company in 1896.&lt;br&gt;&amp;nbsp;(2) By measuring the plans and sections, we reported basic information of this brick warehouse.&lt;br&gt;&amp;nbsp;(3) This brick warehouse was built for cocoon collateral. By studying its backgrounds, it was made clear that this collateral had two functions, &amp;ldquo;banking&amp;rdquo; and &amp;ldquo;warehousing&amp;rdquo;. From mid-Meiji era to Taisyo era, in Honjo and Maebashi city, many small and mid-sized businesses in the silk industry were established.   • Pirates, Tribes, and their Ships : Studies on the relationship between architecture and community

    The purpose of this study is to reveal the fundamental contradiction between the order and the spacial environment of pirates. This study is mainly based on a book about English pirates of the 17-18th century, &quot;A general HISTORY of the Robberies and Murders of the most notorious PIRATES&quot; by Captain Charles Johnson, 1726. Pirates were predatory tribes, which lived only by piracy and also did not make nor form families. Therefore, it was especially important that the pirate laws functioned to satisfy the awareness of equality. One reason is that a pirate ship could not attain a spacial resolution for equality due to its structure. On the other hand, the ship was able to act as if it had just a single will. Thus, the pirate crews achieved freedom within the laws of equality. As long as they were able to perform piracy nomadically, they did not require to have a base ground. Pirates are one of the case groups being contrasting against a &quot;nuclear family&quot;. The final goal of this study is to find the whereabouts of the fundamental problems of &quot;nuclear family&quot; and its housings.

    The one of Japanese traditional Town-houses called &quot;Nagaya&quot; is characterized by the stores and houses on a street of pre-Modern and Modern Osaka City exceedingly. Those have repeated enlargement and renovation at the complicated modernized situation in Osaka, and yet some of them have continued to exist. The purpose of this study is to extract mechanism of change from chronological simulation based on &#039;Tipologia Edilizia&#039;, and to recognize necessary conditions of continuation.     The Korean Diplomatic Mission dispatched to Japan by Lee-dynasty Korea in the course of Edo Period (17-19th centuries) promoted a tremendous scale of urban planning combined with event-oriented facility planning. A series of diplomatic facilities called &quot;Gochisojo&quot; can be reconstructed based on the existing buildings and historical documents, and will be the core for the future cultural promotion. The purpose of this research is to analyze the historical process of the diplomatic facilities in Japan and the Japanese colony in Pusan called &quot;Wakan&quot; where the representatives of Tsushima-han negotiated with Korea on diplomatic matters including the mission, as well as to give the reconstruction of these facilities from the point of architectural and urban history. In particular the comparative study on both Kaminoseki in Yamaguchi Prefecture and the Wakan in Pusan will clarify the meaning of mutual architectural heritage of Japan and Korea. In Kaminoseki, the Ochaya (villa) was created as a guest house at the beginning of Edo Era to receive the mission , the whole town became a diplomatic center in order to accommodate both Korean and Japanese envoys which exceeded 1,000 people. Iwakuni-han had to renew the planning on each occasion of Korean visits according to the prescription made by Tsushima-han. The Wakan in Pusan was constructed in the second half of the 17th century and provided the Director&#039;s Pavilion (Kanshuya), the Market House (Kaiichi Daicho), the Guest House (Daicho) and so on in an extremely vast area. Beyond the stone wall of this colony, Koreans constructed the Guest House (Heksa), the Banqueting Hall (Yondechon) etc. to receive the Japanese Mission. The building type of this Wakan was the mixture of the Japanese samurai-residence type and the Korean guest house type. This unique type was created as a result of the joint operation of Japanese-Korean architects and craftsmen. The reconstruction based on the existing architectural plans and maps led to the fact that these buildings were the fundamental elements to formulate the landscape and townscape.     The purpose of this research is to develop an evaluation method that contributes to long-term sustainability, by extracting the position of Village considered last over a thousand years in Japan from the geographical name, which we called "Millennium Village", and analyzing sustain factors by field survey.
    As an outcome, about 2,800 places are plotted, which considered as the candidate of "Millennium Village" , based on the the place name described in an old documents. The plotted map is available by internet. Also, in order to elucidate the factors of sustainability, we visited nearly 200 candidate Millennium Village in Kanto and Kansai, and we conducted detailed field survey for each different topographic environment. As a result, a regional evaluation list was proposed, which consists of 4 items: <environment> <regional management> <traffic> <village structure>, and an authentication system, which certifying that the area is sustainable, was established and given to the public.

    本研究は、1922年に刊行された今和次郎著『日本の民家』に収録された民家を再訪することによって、その後のおよそ90年にわたる、日本の居住空間・景観の変容を調査分析することを目的としている。平成20年度は4月から6月にかけて、Filemakerというソフトを用いて、平成18年度から継続してきた調査のデジタルデータベースを作成した。また、本年度も継続して、今和次郎の行った民家調査の順番、順路、系列を分析し、大きく3つの実地調査を行った。

    昨年度は、初年度に大阪府下を対象とした事例分析によって、過去に築かれた都市形態の遺制を現在の都市形態から導き出す都市分析手法を開発した。本年度は、それら過去に築かれた都市的スケールでの平面形態が現在に及ぼす影響を評価し、それら過去の形態を現在の都市・建築づくりに活かす方法をデザイン手法として提示することを目指した。

    本研究は、将来的に後期ル・コルビュジエ（1887-1965）の作品計画寸法の復元・理念の抽出と後期ル・コルビュジエの弟子たちのネットワークを復元するための基盤研究としておこなうものである。具体的には早稲田大学名誉教授・建築家吉阪隆正（1917-80）を端緒とし、彼の建築実測調査による計画寸法の復元と、在仏中の日記張を始めとした文献調査から弟子たちの情報を整理することを目的とする。本研究は5ヵ年で遂行する計画であり、コロナ禍の中で実際に遂行できる基礎研究として本特定課題に応募した。結果的に吉阪の在仏中の日記の読み下しの約7割を終えた。ただし手書きによるフランス語の判読や挿入資料は未邦訳であり、今回の成果をベースとして別助成研究に応募し研究内容の継続が採択された。また吉阪帰国直後に設計した住宅作品二件について実測調査を行い、公開可能なものについては日本建築学会にて発表した。

    総合的学際的研究を目指した大型基盤研究申請に落選したため、共同研究者と方法論を見直した。その結果、個別研究とWEBでの共同研究発表の場をメインとした合同的学際研究に研究を分割した。個別研究は2020年度から3年間の基盤研究Bに応募し採択された。合同的学際研究については民間助成に積極的に応募し、結果的にサントリー文化財団、窓研究所から助成を得た。その結果、所定の目的を運用する基礎が形成されている。個別研究はネパール、チベットを中心とした高地民族居住研究であるがコロナ禍の影響のもと、本格的研究は未着手であるが、状況が改善次第進められるように、共同研究者との打ち合わせを進めている。合同的学際研究については専用WEBを既に立ち上げ、学際的メンバーからなる編集同人をあつめ、年二回の共同研究の発表をWEBにて行う。英語、中国語を一部併記しており、国際的な反応を期待できる。http://hbh.center/webconference/

  • 地質基盤・社会造形の編年構成を加えた東アジア長期的持続地域の比較研究

    2018年11月に日本側教員学生13名と中国雲南大学の教員学生15名からなる日中共同調査チームで、雲南省の三江併流地域に位置する複数の山地少数民族集落における実地調査を行った。横断山脈を迂回するルートで対象地域周辺の地質地形環境の概観を悉皆的に確認した。また、長期持続集落・千年村研究で構築された方法論は海外においても汎用性があることが確認され、持続の観点から集落を考察する新たな示唆を得た。さらに日中教員によるミニレクチャー、指導層の運営を元に中国学生と日本学生によるワークショップ・セッションが行われ、集落の持続的変容プロセスにおける両国両校の活発的な意見交換が行われ、共同研究調査の方法論が確立された。

  • 自律的生存単位としての「千年村」研究とその存続のための方法開発

    本研究は、千年以上にわたり、度重なる自然的社会的災害・変化を乗り越えて、生産と生活が持続的に営まれてきた地域を〈千年村〉と称し、その収集、公開、顕彰、研究、交流のためのプラットフォームとして構想され、今後の集落一般の存続へ向けた指針の提供を目指すものである。本助成交付期間（2013年度）は、研究基盤・研究組織の構築と伊豆大島緊急災害に対し、今後の復旧まちづくりへの提言を目的とした実地調査を実施した。これらの成果を以下にまとめ報告としたい。①研究組織体制および研究目的・意義の設定本研究は、2012年度まで木下剛研究室（千葉大学・造園学）、石川初（ランドスケープデザイン）、福島加津也（建築家）、大高隆（写真家）、元永二朗（ウェブデザイン）との共同研究であった。2013年度からは、清水重敦研究室（京都工芸繊維大学・建築/都市史）、上杉和央（京都府立大学・歴史地理学）、菊地暁（京都大学・民俗学）、佐々木葉（早稲田大学・景観工学）、林憲吾（総合地球環境学研究所、建築/都市史）、御船達雄（民家史）を加え、共同研究体制を敷いた。2013年10月11-12日にかけて、京都工芸繊維大学にて、中谷礼仁、木下剛、清水重敦、菊地暁および早稲田大学、千葉大学、京都工芸繊維大学学生による研究会議を実施した。これまでの活動成果から研究目的を明瞭化し、既往制度との棲み分けや社会的な意義について討議を行なった。本助成の一部はこの打ち合わせに関わる旅費（交通費、宿泊費、現地でのレンタカー費）に充てた。②『和名類聚抄』を用いた〈千年村〉データベースの作成および地図上へのプロット全国〈千年村〉収集の基礎作業として、平安期文献『和名類聚抄』記載の古代地名およびその現在地への比定作業を参照し、千年前に集落が存在した可能性のある地域のデータベースを作成した。また、古代地名に比定される現在地の内、大字領域に比定されるものを地図上にプロットした。本助成の一部はこのデータベース作成費に充てた。③土石流災害に伴う伊豆大島元町地区緊急調査と復旧町づくりへの提言2013年10月16日、台風26号により元町地区へ土石流災害が発生した。それに際して、当該地区の被災状況調査を実施した。地形に即した家屋配置や石垣などの伝統的集落構成が土石流を減衰させた可能性があることを指摘し、これらを生かした復旧まちづくりへの提言を行なった。成果は大島町役場へ提出し、今後も参与していく予定である。本助成の一部は調査費（交通費、宿泊費）に充てた。②、③については、本研究プロジェクトのウェブサイト『千年村プロジェクト』（mille-vill.org）にて、2014/4/2より公開を予定している。

  • １９世紀末ウィーン・建築家アドルフ・ロース　未邦訳論稿全邦訳とその史的評価

    アドルフ・ロース（Adolf Loos, 1870-1933）が残した論考の全邦訳（全3巻）を本研究の第一義とする。本研究は、2009年度より活動をスタートし、2012年3月には、第一集『Ins Leere Gesprochen』（Adolf Loos. 1921.）の完訳版である『虚空へ向けて』（アセテート出版）を出版した。本助成交付期間である2012年度より、著作第二集にあたる『Trotzdem』（Adolf Loos. 1931.）の翻訳に着手した。さらに翻訳活動と並行して日本近代建築史におけるアドルフ・ロースの研究を、基礎研究としておこなった。これらの成果を以下にまとめ報告とする。①著作第二集の邦訳スタート②西洋モダニズム運動の受容過程に関する研究③関連資料の蓄積①著作第二集の邦訳スタート・翻訳作業ロースによる論考のテーマは多岐に渡り、建築史、ウィーン史、ドイツ文学など多角的な視点が必要となるため、2010年度までに翻訳検討組織を結成した。助成期間である2012年度も、それまでの活動体勢を継続し月 2 回の翻訳検討会議を開催、訳文の読み合わせおよび訳注箇所の検討をそれぞれの専門的視点から行った。本助成の一部はこれら翻訳検討会議に関する運営費（翻訳者への謝金、印刷費、録音テープなどの雑費、関連資料購入費）に充てた。・訳注作成ロース論稿の読解に際し、その訳文に対して実証的な裏付けが必要不可欠となった。ロースの論稿には職人の名や地名といった数多くの固有名詞が登場する。しかしながら、現代においては詳細が不明な部分も多く、その批評対象を明瞭にし、論考の真意を正しく捉えるため、当時の資料ならびに文献の入手を行い訳注作成をおこなった。・研究これら未邦訳論稿の読解に伴う研究を、学生の修士論文・卒業論文として三題発表した。以下が、そのリストである。修士論文癸生川まどか「ウィーン20世紀初頭における芸術家の組織化に関する研究―アドルフ・ロースとその批判対象であるウィーン分離派、ウィーン工房との比較を通して―」斉藤亜紀子　「アドルフ・ロースの家具調度による空間計画の研究」原功一　　　「西洋モダニズム建築の受容過程―「アドルフ・ロース」をとりまく一断面―」卒業論文浦上卓司「アドルフ・ロースのプロダクトデザイン」渡辺周　「パリのアドルフ・ロース―近代ヨーロッパの中央と周縁―」②西洋モダニズム運動の受容過程に関する研究日本近代建築史からみたロースの研究をおこなった。本研究は、日本のモダニズム受容の過程において、ロースがどのようなコンテクストのなかで引用・紹介されてきたのかについて明らかにすることを目的とした。日本の建築系雑誌を通覧し、ロースに関連する資料を収集した。これら収集したロース紹介記事を、時系列に分析し、それら記事の執筆者等を軸に、影響関係明らかにした。これら研究により、ロースの基礎資料収集のみならず、ロース研究に新しい視座を加えることができた。これら一連の研究成果は、2013年度の建築学会大会（北海道）で報告予定である。以下にその論文題目を掲げる。本橋仁「西洋モダニズム運動の受容過程に関する研究　1　―アドルフ・ロースの日本への紹介―」原功一「西洋モダニズム運動の受容過程に関する研究　2　―戦前日本におけるアドルフ・ロースの紹介―」③関連資料の蓄積上記①②の活動を進行するにあたり、関連書籍の入手が必須であった。2011年度には本助成を利用し、翻訳対象である『Trotzdem』の初版、また日本国内では入手困難な書籍を随時購入した。また海外文献のみならず、日本においてロースがどのように定着していったのかという受容過程の研究につなげるため、当時の日本で発行された雑誌などを中心に資料収集を進めた。

    アドルフ・ロース（Adolf Loos, 1870-1933）が残した論考の全邦訳（全3巻）を本研究の第一義とする。本助成交付期間である2011年度は、著作第一集にあたる『Ins Leere Gesprochen 1897-1900』（Adolf Loos. 1921.）の原語（ドイツ語）からの全邦訳完了とその公開を目標とし、研究を進めた。また、この翻訳活動に伴い、本書所収論考の執筆背景研究と、ロース関連資料の蓄積を行った。①著作第一集の全邦訳および公開・翻訳作業ロースによる論考のテーマは多岐に渡り、建築史、ウィーン史、ドイツ文学など多角的な視点が必要となるため、2010年度までに翻訳検討組織を結成した。助成期間である2011年度は、月 2 回の翻訳検討会議を開催し、訳文の読み合わせおよび訳注箇所の検討をそれぞれの専門的視点から行った。また、2011年8月8～10日には、それまで翻訳した全訳文の再確認、公開に向けての工程確認を目的に二泊三日の合宿を行った。本助成の一部はこれら翻訳検討会議に関する運営費（翻訳者への謝金、印刷費、用紙代、録音テープなどの雑費）に充てた。・訳注作成ロース論稿の読解に際し、その訳文に対して実証的な裏付けが必要不可欠となった。ロースの論稿には職人の名や地名といった数多くの固有名詞が登場する。しかしながら、現代においては詳細が不明な部分も多く、その批評対象を明瞭にし、論考の真意を正しく捉えるため、当時の資料ならびに文献の入手を行い、全260項目の訳注作成を行った。・公開2012年4月、『アドルフ・ロース著作集（1） 虚空へ向けて』（アドルフ・ロース著、加藤淳訳、鈴木了二＋中谷礼仁監修、編集出版組織体アセテート）として刊行した。研究成概要の報告についての書類が届いた2月の時点で、すでに印刷の段階にさしかかっており、本助成を受けた旨および課題番号に関する記載は、シールの貼付等により明記することとした。・研究これら未邦訳論稿の読解に伴う研究を、学生の修士論文・卒業論文として三題発表した。②展示会の復元（執筆背景に関する研究）

  • 日本近代，明治期を中心とした伝統大工技術の展開，変質についての調査研究

    本研究は伝統的な建築技術の特性を踏まえたうえで，なお明治以降の時代的文脈，ならびに日本国内にかかわらずより世界的な場所における日本の伝統建築技術の具体的な展開とその意味を明らかにすることを目的としている。申請者はその基礎的研究として近世からの架構技術が明治以降にも応用展開された領域である規矩術を分析対象とした。規矩術とは，特に納まりが煩雑をきたす軒廻りを曲尺（さしがね）によって把握，計画する技術である。公刊規矩術書が近世末期から流布しはじめ，近代以降を通じ和洋を問わず広く施工者層に流通していた事実は，近世から近代の連続面を考える上で多くの点を示唆するものだからである。 1995年度はまず現存する近世から明治にかけての規矩術書のリストアップならびに収集に努めた。国会図書館発行の『国会図書館蔵書目録明治期第4編』中「建築」の項で該当しうる書籍の約半数（80件程度）を複写した。現在その3割をゼロックスとして，残りをマイクロフィッシュとして整理保管している。 次に収集した上記文献をもとにして，今年度の主眼である規矩術の幕末から明治にかけての変遷過程を整理，分析を行った。それらを巨視的に扱うために，規矩術書の内容をその目次構成を中心として整理分析した。具体的には幕末期規矩術の代表的著作の言及対象を分析しその項目構成を明らかにし，次に明治以降規矩術書に上記項目構成を当てはめて分析し，明治期における規矩術書の構成の変遷を明らかにした。と同時により詳細に分析した場合，扇軒を代表とする特定様式に付随した規矩術の形骸化・多角形割ならびに振れ軒，多角形軒等の西洋建築を含む各種様式を通じて，より応用性の高い項目の普及が，明治以降規矩術を全体的に把握した場合における特徴であることを明らかにした。明治以降規矩術はその形式的継承性を保持しながらも，近代の新しい文脈に対してより実践的な性質を持つようであったように見受けられる。伝統的技術の近代における継承的変質の問題を考える際に規矩術書研究は有効な史的対象であるように思われる。 来年度においてその継承的変質の具体的詳細，あるいはその主体となった著書－規矩術者自体の分析を行う予定である。
