東京大学教養学部卒業（在学中、ウォリック大学に一年間交換留学）。東京大学大学院総合文化研究科修士課程修了。東京大学総長大賞、東京大学総長賞、一高記念賞等受賞。ロンドン大学キングズ・カレッジ博士課程修了。PhD (English Language and Literature)。2019年7月、日本人研究者として初めて、アーデン・シェイクスピア・シリーズ（The Arden Shakespeare）から単著が出版される（本書は2020年7月にペーパーバック版も刊行される）。現在、早稲田大学国際教養学部・大学院国際コミュニケーション研究科准教授。

“The greatest strength of this study is Tsukada’s rich, nuanced rereadings of scenes from (and indeed critical interpretations of) Macbeth, Antony & Cleopatra, Coriolanus, and Cymbeline that would on the surface seem to be done to death. This book proves the contrary—that it is possible to find more complexity in Shakespeare’s engagement with both the monarch on the throne (James) and the looming shadow of his predecessor (Elizabeth) than has been previously assumed. In addition to discussing Shakespeare, Tsukada engages with other contemporary dramatists, poets, and essayists; James’s own official statements and policies; and the copious modern critical tradition. The result is a study that builds upon, rather than tearing down, those with whom it disagrees.
