    We reinvestigate a plausible proposal for universal quantum gates in Kane's model, in which the authors assumed that electron spin is always downward under a background magnetic field and the value of the controlling parameters is varied instantaneously. We demonstrate that a considerable error appears, for example, in the X rotation. As a result, the controlled operations do not work. This failure is caused by improper choice of the computational bases

  • Crossover from classical to quantum behavior of the Duffing oscillator through a pseudo-Lyapunov-exponent

    We discuss the quantum-classical correspondence (QCC) in a specific dissipative chaotic system, the Duffing oscillator. The quantum version of the Duffing oscillator is treated as an open quantum system and analyzed numerically by the use of quantum state diffusion (QSD). We consider a pseudo-Lyapunov exponent and investigate it in detail, varying the Planck constant effectively. We show that there exists a critical stage in which the crossover from classical to quantum behavior occurs. Furthermore, we find that a dissipation effect suppresses the occurrence of chaos in the quantum region, while it, combined with the periodic external force, plays a crucial role in the chaotic behavior of the classical system. © 2005 The American Physical Society.

    We construct a general photon wave equation in a nondispersive and homogeneous medium. Then, we demonstrate the relation between the photon wave equation and a Poisson process. Through this formalism, the passage time of photons in the medium can be defined. Furthermore, we derive a photon wave equation in a dispersive medium from the general formalism of the Poisson process by introducing a time shift generator.

    Field emission formulae, current-voltage characteristics and energy distribution of emitted electrons, are derived analytically for a nonplanar (hyperboloidal) metallic emitter model. The traditional Fowler-Nordheim (F-N) formulae, which are derived from a planar emitter model, are modified, and the assumption of the planar emitter in the F-N model is reconsidered. Our analytical calculation also reveals the backgrounds of the previous numerical discussion by He et al. on the effect of the geometry of emitter on field emission. The new formulae contain a parameter which characterizes the sharpness of the hyperboloidal emitter, and experimental data of field emissions from clean tungsten emitters and nanotip emitters are analyzed by making use of this feature. © 2002 Elsevier Science B.V.     　View Summary

    本研究では（1）量子化の基礎的問題と（2）量子絡み合い，についての研究を行った。（1）Nelsonは質量ｍの粒子が拡散係数h/(2πm)，摩擦なしでBrown運動していると仮設して量子的粒子を“古典的”に記述することに成功した．これは1体問題に限定されているが，ここでは相互作用している多体系に一般化することを試みた．一つ一つの粒子が異なる拡散係数でBrown運動をしているとする確率過程を仮定し，新たに“current momentum”と“osmotic momentum”を導入する．その結果，一連のIto-Nelsonの確率微分方程式から相互作用ポテンシャル下の多体シュレーディンガー方程式が導出できることを示した．そこではcurrent momentumとosmotic momentumの一次結合が多体シュレーディンガー振幅の対数微分によって与えられ，さらにそれは量子ハミルトン-ヤコビ理論の演算子型生成母関数と同一である．この枠組みでは多体シュレーディンガー振幅を介して同種粒子のスピン－統計性が論じられ，Youngの二重スリット実験の２粒子相関のシミュレーションを実行し，非自明な相関のあることを示した．（2）量子力学が古典力学と際立って違っているのは，量子状態の重ね合せにエンタングルメント(絡み合い)があることであり，発展が目覚しい量子工学に利用されている．ここでは液体状核磁気共鳴（MNR）量子コンピュータのエンタングルメント生成について調べた．MNR量子コンピュータで演算は系の熱平衡状態から出発する．その系に量子演算を施して，エンタングルメント状態を用意する．ここではハミルトニアンに実用上必須の化学シフトを持たせ，エンタングルメント生成変換にはベル変換であるCH変換とCH-fanout変換を採用，変換された密度行列の固有値問題を厳密に解いた．エンタングルメント評価法としてPeres-Horodeckiによる部分転置法を用い，エンタングルメント生成可能領域を正確に評価した．さらにDC法の内包するループホールを解析し，DC法の改良を図った．　　　

  • 「量子状態拡散」概念に基づく開いた系のローカリゼーション

    量子状態拡散概念に基づくDuffing振動子系の量子化と古典-量子のcrossover　従来から開いた系の量子化にはCaldeira-LeggettのFeynmann経路積分による方法，Lindblad型マスター方程式による方法が知られているが，いずれも量子事象の統計集団に対する密度行列など分布関数の時間発展を記述している．ここでは量子状態拡散(Quantum State Diffusion, QSD)，すなわち，ヒルベルト空間における'random path'の時間発展を記述するIto方程式である確率的シュレーディンガー方程式に基礎を置く．これはいわば，Lindblad型マスター方程式をunravelしたものであり，この方程式で物理系をシミュレートすることにより，実験に際しての個々の事例の時間発展を疑似体験できる．散逸あるいは測定過程によって，実際のミクロ系は最終的に位相空間内でローカライズし，ミクロからマクロへ移行しているが，この機構を分析することによって，散乱現象を含む開いた系での量子現象の時間発展を解明する．　本研究ではdouble minimumをもつ4次のポテンシャル中を振動している質点に，周期的に変動する1次の外力ポテンシャルを加えた，Duffing振動子の時間発展を解析した．古典領域において，この系はカオス的に振舞うことが知られており，QSDによって，その量子領域における振る舞いを調べることは，量子カオス研究のみならず，散逸系の量子化という観点からも興味深い．　この枠組では粒子的描象が取りやすいことから，プランク定数と系の特徴的な作用との比をパラメータとして，Lyapunov数類似を求めると，比が小さい領域(古典的)では，その数がはっきりと存在しカオス的に振舞うのに対し，１程度の領域(量子的)では全く存在せず，波動関数が全領域に広がっていること，また比の値には，ある臨界値が存在し，比を変化させていくと，古典的から量子的に振舞う，crossover現象の存在することが示せた．このことは量子カオスのみならず，散逸系の量子化の分野に新しい知見を与えている．

  • 確率過程を基盤とするもう一つの量子力学

    　量子力学はミクロな自然現象を間違いなく記述し、20世紀科学技術のあらゆる面での基礎となっており、その有効性に疑問を持つものはいない。しかし、その出現以来70年以上を経過しながら、観測問題等、いまだにその原理的、基礎的諸問題については係争中のものがあり、決着はついていない。伝統的コペンハーゲン解釈を補完する新たな枠組の構築が求められている。本研究では特に伝統的量子力学が記述することの困難なミクロ系に於ける‘時間’を取りあげ、確率過程量子化法の一つであるNelson量子力学の有効性を検証した。　トンネルバリアーを通過するミクロ粒子の軌跡に関係した時間、つまり、‘トンネル時間'に関した統一的な定義はまだ与えられておらず、その定量的実験も実行されていないため、一意的なトンネル時間が存在するか否か明確でない。ここでは時間に依存する１次元矩形ポテンシャル障壁のトンネル問題の解析解を求め、Buttiker-Landauerのtraversal時間がミクロ粒子の透過流に関するvisibilityを測定することによって評価できること、さらに、この定義は矩形型障壁のみならず、ＷＫＢ近似が適用できる任意形の障壁ポテンシャルでも適用できることを示した。　Nelson量子力学は、一見量子的粒子が‘古典的軌道'をとるごとき統計アンサンブルを与え、通常の量子力学に等価である。Nelson量子力学のもつこの性質を利用すれば、この枠組内でトンネル時間が明確に定義でき、WKB近似によって与えられる時間、Nelson量子力学によって与えられる時間、そしてvisibilityによって与えられる時間とをシミュレーションによって評価した。その結果、WKB近似の適用可能な領域（オパークな領域）で３者は極めて良く一致した。Nelson量子力学の与える時間とvisibilityによって与えられる時間とはオパークな場合だけでなく、半透明の場合も良く一致したが、これは両者がWKB近似を越える適用範囲を持っていることを示唆している。

  • Nelsonの量子力学に基づくトンネル時間－散逸による影響の評価

    　本研究の主題「トンネル時間の評価」の問題の困難な点の第１は、トンネル現象が古典的禁止領域での純粋な量子効果であって、古典的概念の描像に準拠しながら量子化するという通常の手続きが取れないことである。第２の点は、力学の記述の仕方そのものに起因する問題である。時間変数は力学変数ではなく、ハミルトニアンによって生成される力学量の時間発展を目盛る単なるパラメーターにしか過ぎない。本研究で用いるNelsonの量子力学は従来のコペンハーゲン的解釈を、量子ゆらぎを伴う拡散過程に置き換えた。その確率微分方程式は粒子の一つ一つの軌跡に関する時間発展を与え、その経路のアンサンブルによる物理量の平均値が量子力学的期待値を再現する。このアンサンブルで、実験室で測定されるトンネル時間を評価できる。本研究では、より現実的な状況に対応するために、Nelsonの量子力学によるトンネル時間の評価の枠組みを(1)多チャンネル系に拡張し、(2)散逸系、熱浴と結合する系に拡張することを試みた。　1. Nelsonの量子力学の多チャンネル系への拡張とそのトンネル時間への効果　Nelsonの量子力学の構成をさらに精密化し、Langevin方程式のアルゴリズムを開発、シミュレーションを実行し、量子井戸を透過するトンネル時間への影響等を評価した。　2. Nelsonの量子力学の散逸系、熱浴との結合系への拡張とそのトンネル時間への影響　量子系に対する熱浴の影響はCaldeira-Leggettによる方法で取り入れることを試みた。また、散逸系についてはohmicな現象論的方程式に従う系の量子化を試み、その量子化の基礎を与えた。さらにその有効作用に基づくNelsonの量子力学を構成し、対応するLangevin方程式を定式化した。

  • Nelsonの量子力学に基づくトンネリング時間
