<title content-type="abstract-subheading">Purpose</title>A growing number of studies have become focused on managing conflict more effectively and comprehensively in the construction industry. However, little research has aimed to operationalize all the facets related to the quality of conflict management that are necessary in governing conflict management. The purpose of this article is to propose a new model measuring the quality of conflict management in a construction project context that is not only inclusive but also practical.

  • Roles of Organizational Restructuring and Reconfiguration in Dynamic Environment

     View Summary

Differing with the extant literature on mature economies, the two forms of reorganization (restructurings and reconfigurations) may have different effects on firm performance in emerging economy due to its distinctive features such as the highly dynamic environment and government involvement.&nbsp; The study empirically investigated the different roles of restructurings and reconfigurations in firm performance and the moderating role of state ownership in emerging economies. It was conducted using dynamic panel analysis of the top 50 listed Chinese firms in IT industry including both state-owned and private firms from 2009 to 2018. The results show that the positive impact of restructuring on performance is larger than the role of reconfiguration in emerging economies. The state ownership weakens the role of restructuring in firm economic performance but strengthens the role of reconfiguration.&nbsp; We contribute to the dynamic capabilities literature by comparing for the first time the performance implications of organizational restructurings and reconfigurations.

  • Influence of Horizontal Supplier-supplier Coopetition on Buyer Perfomance:Moderating Role of Buyer-supplier Relational Strength

     View Summary

The supplier network of a firm is now increasingly viewed as an important source of innovation in new product development. The “hub firm” role of a manufacturer enables it to set up its supplier network. They sometimes expect suppliers to cooperate with each other while maintaining the suppliers’ competition. The study investigated the influences of horizontal supplier–supplier competition and cooperation in the supplier network on the innovation of the ego buyer from the view of an ego network. It takes the supplier network of an ego buyer as an analysis unit, using cross-sectional data of 130 listed Japanese buyers in manufacturing industries and their first-tier supplier networks in 2016. The results indicate that both supplier–supplier competition and cooperation have inverted U-shaped effects on buyer innovation. It contributes to recent research on networked supply relations through a new attempt to link traditional horizontal coopetition among suppliers with the innovation of the vertical buyer. It also provides manufacturers insights on how to strategically manage horizontal supplier–supplier relations for its product innovation.
